This past summer I took my young ones on vacation to an old stomping ground of my youth: Long Beach Island, NJ. It was splendid, and rekindled many memories of my wasted youth. I make this suggestion if you ever run out of your own ideas, because I know you would do it justice.

Tuckerton Railroad

I no longer have the time or patience or eyesight to complete it, but you my friend could surely polish that turd into a diamond!:)
 
Too many routes, too little time, but I will take a look at the Tuckerton Railroad. I like the small and quirky ones.

Edit: Hey, it even ran the Blue Comet at least once. When I was a young kid I went on vacation there with my parents a couple of times. I could extend my Cape May route up to include Winslow Junction to Atlantic City and on to Barnegat.
