A string of Jointed Rail Boxcars... :-)

I found these while looking at some images of greater Portsmouth, NH. They are exactly the same cars as those made by Jointed Rail. :D

These are on the former Rochester Dover and Portsmouth which was abandoned ages ago. This is the only active stub.

I have no idea :)

I happened to just be looking at the map as I've been planning some new routes to build. Greater Portsmouth is pretty cool with the Kittery Naval Shipyard and the Portsmouth Harbor. Sadly though, a lot of track has been ripped up in Portsmouth including the Hampton branch, or the former Eastern Railroad to Boston. North of Kittery is the former Eastern to Portland. You can still see the ROW there.

Did you know Google Earth has a "history" feature? You can use a slider to see older photography. Depending on when it was ripped up you may be able to see it - won't be a clear and sharp as today's photos, but it can still help.

Oh, I'm very familiar with this feature. :)

This was some time in the 1920s or 1930s after a flood. The Cocheco River flooded very badly and the Rochester and Dover was abandoned then.

If you move across the river, you'll see a ROW as a string of clumpy trees. The highway obliterated the ROW when they built that some time in the 1940s or 50s. It comes to a parking lot in Dover then there's a bridge with a road on it across the river there near some mills. That bridge was also a rail bridge. You have to rotate your camera to see the side of it in Bing. Cool! This also gives me some other ideas. :)
