I saw the discussion on ugly locomotives and useless rolling stock and thought I would share,.........no train deserve this.

Last year a steam engine derailed becuase the sleepers were stolen.
I had pictures of the Millsite scrap yard showing Garretts parked and I think by now they to have been destroyed.

That wasn't the Blue Train was it? I remember one of the well know ones rerailed just after I'd been in SA.

If I ever make a real railroad, I want to use South African locos so that they wont be destroyed like that

It was Rovos at Centurion shortly after the accident there. The Rovos site had a picture of the loco on its side

Oh yes. I remember know. Wasn't a woman passenger killed in that?

Not to worry folks, we have at least four possibly more SA steam locos in New Zealand. One has been restored and is running, the others are awaiting restoration.
