A QUICK TRIP TO RAILWORKS (AND BACK!)

A couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd treat myself to Railworks. This was mainly because I had been told that running AI trains was much more successful in RW than in Trainz.

However, I hadn't reckoned that route building in Railworks would be such a nightmare, despite the numerous 'How to do it' videos which are available on U-Tube.

I am now back with TRS2004, which I swear that I will never leave again!

I had thought about doing the same thing. I'm glad I read your review. You might think about moving on up to TS2010 as time goes on. TRS2004 is "going away" soon.

I ran RailSim and Railworks since they were released, and I can assure you, designing scenarios with AI traffic is a nightmare. For that matter, designing a scenario without AI traffic can be a nightmare. The AI functionality of Trainz is an order of magnitude better.

It's certainly true that designing routes is a lot easier in Trainz. But the experience of driving the trains in Railworks, the light and the shadows and the color, the feeling of being immersed in the environment, the sound of the trains, is all miles ahead of Trainz (2009; I haven't tried 2010).

How sad. We humans seem to cast away perfectly useful things needlessly, even when they have a lot of usability and life left...

It's nice to think like that, but if we kept everything even when it got old, we'd still be driving Model Ts and not the latest cars that operate more efficiently. I'm not looking to start another version war here, just making a comment.

I agree...get with the times people!! lol
