A program that free up / clean-up memory

Hello Community --

There's a lot out there, and yet I can't find a simple basic program that free up / cleans up memory!

My situation -- I finally installed TANE / Hotfix 2 on a much more powerful system then my primary system, which I am using now! That second system has only TANE installed -- nothing else! Unlike my primary system which uses a 3rd party program to clean up memory, which makes T12 run better, I, however, do not want to use that program because it does a bunch of other stuff -- Anyhow, a simple powerful free up / clean up memory that does that only job I can use on that second system!

Freeware ... opensource ....

If you know any good one's there please provide info -- Most appreciated it!

Kind Regards
Ish

PS. For me, TANE runs great, no issues ... Installed Northeast Metro (v2014A) route, and wow, it runs so smooth .. :D

If it's temporary files your talking about, use the program called "Clean Up!". I use it to clean out my temporary files, and it works great.

I will warn you - be very careful of clean up utilities. They tend to clean up settings which I found out and lost all my preferences for T:ANE Content Manager.

I used to use Iobit Advanced System Care, however, I found that the utility actually made my system run worse. This was with Windows 8.1 and with Windows 10 and is the latest version, which I was entitled to as a free upgrade because I am subscribed to it. Since that discovery, I no longer use it.

You might be better off running something like CC-Cleaner, but setting the program to avoid anything related to T:ANE including the AppData\Local\Temp\com.n3vgames.tane folder where the preferences are located and not use anything that's installed and running in the background and cleaning up stuff it feels it needs to in order to tweak the performance.

Keep in mind that Microsoft has setup Windows 10 to build cache files and other pre-fetch files which will speed up program access once the system has settled in and operating for some time. I've noticed that tampering with these files makes the system run worse rather than better. These pre-fetch files are cleaned up by the operating system at periodic schedules so there is no need to touch them.

Hi Ish, I have been using IOBIT http://www.iobit.com/en/index.php pro for around five years. You can get a free download which does the basic things you want, or pay a small annual fee for the Pro edition that looks after everything you need for your systems.RegardsBob

Good Morning John --Yep, TANE runs on a pc all by itself that I built for it specifically -- I use those other programs, including Advanced System Care for many years, on my primary PC! As you know, John, Advanced System Care has that little bar that frees-up memory -- Searching for a basic program that does only this -- Can't recall but years ago there was a program call mem-ram ... etc etc ... I can't remember, so it's why the thread -- perhaps someone can remember it! --Take careIsh
