Well after working on TC stuff, I was a bit burnt out on content creation, and given the comments on this forum about TC stuff, I can't see myself going back to the grindstone any time soon.
To get over this, I've been exploring a garden railway for the backyard. Firstly, I downloaded Atlas's RTS freeware, a sectional track planning tool. While it took a little to get used to, I managed to come up with the track plan below:
So after fiddling with that for a bit, Lance offered to build it in Trainz to see how it would look. After he did the basic track plan for me, I jazzed it up some and added some rollingstock to see how it would all work. Here's a screenie of the "finished" layout:
I was thinking of uploading it as an 06 layout, but it's probably not good enough for uploading until it's flashed up a bit more. Anyways, after trying it in Trainz, it was time to go out and do it for real. I only started last weekend, so it's got a ways to go yet, but below is where I got to in marking it out, using PVC tube as a surrogate for flex track (an idea out of a G scale book).
Hope you don't mind me sharing...
Cheers
Tony
