This is a beginning of a short series i will be doing on my route i am constructing.
Several screens and story lines will follow.
Feel free to post comments/suggestions to the route, as it is faaaaaaaaar from done.
The Single C-424 that suffered a crank Failure can be seen on the caboose track, as that is where it sits for now.
Just as any old route in modern days, a Foreign EMD unit invades on very strong ALCo territory.
these new EMD units are on loan to the iron Mountain, and it's looking like the tides may change in the near future.
ALCos are hard locomotives to come by these days, i have been told by the Iron Mountain's locomotive superintentdent. Parts are even worse.
The few ALCos that the Road owns are looking at a soon doomed future.
One has already been retired, and is happly enjoying it's retirement in a park.
The First Locomotive to be scrapped, will be the older PRR C-425's, as the two newest ALCo's, the Conrail C-424, and the EL C-425 will be kept. The PRR units will be dissasembled for any usable parts, then sold to any junk-yard that wants them. They are the first to go because one suffered a heavy Crank-shaft Failure, and the other, well, lets just say it had a bad day and went into the river, over a collapsed bridge.
Its a beginning to a sad ending.....
Until next time,
Sean
