A couple of queries relating to the CP route......

Firstly, are there any Dash 9s available in CP livery?
I have searched the DLS, to no avail, and went to Jointed Rail, who, for some odd reason, have stacks of D9s but none for CP.

Secondly, I have bought this wonderful Cecil B. DeMille production from Roy but am missing some textures around the Revelstoke station area.
Does anyone who has this route know what the KUID is for that texture?

In the meantime I shall bear with the grey ground with the yellow hatch. :)
(And meander my way along my favourite train route.....Surveyor will have to wait! :D )

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce:

You are best to send a PM to Roy himself if there are missing textures. His profile is: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/member.php?92860-joosten

Welcome aboard and get ready to lose many hours just driving your train on this route. :D

Cheers,

Derek

Done that, Derek.
I've been in constant communication with Roy since acquiring the package.
There were several missing CDPs in this latest update and he has added an extra folder to the downloads.
We'll get there in the end. :)

But, OH! what a magnificent piece of work this is!!! :mop:

3 CN's and 2 CRR's at TPR.
Yep, but neither are Canadian Pacific.
CN = Canadian National and they don't run the Kicking Horse Pass route (they do share the Fraser & Thompson Rivers route but not the sections modelled so far by Roy).
CRR = Clinchfield RR and that is/was Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee. Now CRX.

There's a pair of AC4400s at TPR wearing CPR livery; pretty much the same thing ... :) As for the missing terrain, have you checked for missing dependencies?

Doing that now (checking, that is).

The AC4400 is an AC4400, not a "Dash 9" :)
Reason for the D9 is that I like to replicate real-life train operations and the (excellent) DVD "Canadian Pacific: Heart of the Rockies" features mainly D9s.

Hi 3801,

I have not located any CP Dash 9's.

There are 3 CN Dash 9's aavailable at Trainz Pro Routes by "cnr", Fillow the link http://trainzproroutes.org/tprdownloads/index.php?act=category&id=59. You will need to be registered of course to download.

The three Dash 9's are:
CN Dash 9 #2522 <kuid 976761:201>
CN Dash 9 #2527 <kuid 976761:200>
CN Dash 9 #2624<kuid 976761:202>

I cannot remeber if they installed without errors in TS12. If they do have errors they are easily fixed. any problems post here and I, or someone, can help you to fix them.

Also check out the other Canadian locos. There are some good ones in there.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your time on Roys CPR route.

Andrew.

No, neither have I, Andrew! :)
I find it rather odd that none exist.
I wonder if it is a licensing thing.

Thanks for the link to TPR but I had already located and downloaded those.
Haven't run them yet so am unaware if there are any missing or unknown dependencies.

Thanks for your advice.

Cheers!

Erm ... I have checked four separate online references, and all of them are quite insistent that CPR has never had any Dash 9s, just AC4400s and ES44s ...

So excuse my lack of knowledge about US locos (I'm English & don't model US), but this
photo states it's a Dash 9 & it's wearing Canadian Pacific livery

Unfortunately, it would appear that whoever labelled the photo did not identify the loco correctly. Here is another photo of CPR 8718:

8dfcf5b47ff5f2c4aaf3e61677a4c5ef.jpg

Note the vents set at different angles underneath the wide radiator hood at the rear, circled in yellow, and the shallow notch in the back and short exhaust stack, circled in green.

Here is a photo of BNSF 4855, a Dash 9-44CW, taken at the CNR Battle Creek yard:

db83d163a64502886f00b04266a2ef59.jpg

Note that the vents in the yellow circle are all set at the same angle, and that in the green circle the stack is much taller and the notch is much deeper than on the CPR unit. Clearly, these are not photos of the same type of loco.

Finally, here is a picture of CPR 8760, an ES44AC:

5428983f86f9e178c433498ccfca9a44.jpg

Note the vents at two different angles, and the shallow notch and short stack, just as on CPR 8718. Clearly, this loco is the same model as the 8718, which means the 8718 is an ES44AC, not a Dash 9. Of course, the ES44s are essentially Dash 9s with better pollution control, so it's a fairly easy mistake to make ... :)

If you're interested, this website is pretty useful for identifying CPR diesels: http://www.mountainrailway.com/Diesel Roster Page.htm Enjoy!

Many thanks for setting me straight, Mr. Warhorse. :)
(I guess I should have paid closer attention to the commentary and printed information on that DVD!)

At least I can stop my search. :)

Actually, now I've seen both, there are a lot of differences, all the grill panels are different & the bogies look nothing like each other.
Looks like I'll have to take photo descriptions with a pinch of disbelief until checked, when it comes to US traction. :D

Well, you need to be a bit careful with the bogies, as the manufacturer sometimes offers several choices for the same locomotive type. For example, CPR ES44AC #8759:

CP 8759-2.jpg

And CPR ES44AC #8762:
CP 8762-3.jpg

Different bogies, but otherwise the same model. And as I said earlier, the ES44 is really just an evolved Dash 9, so confusion is fairly excusable. All of the more recent models from GE look pretty similar. On the EMD side, most models from the SD60 onwards have several visually quite distinctive sub-types, for a different type of confusion ... ;)

Just to throw some confusion/help out I found a CP dash 9 listed on the DLS. It is By Logman. <kuid2:37573:100277:4>
As for why a CP Dash 9 is on the DLS, it is an older model that was made when there was not any ES44 models available for trainz.
On the DLs look for username Sigma-6. You will find a CP AC4400CW and a CP SD9043AC.
Also there is a AC4400cw Canadian Pacific at http://www.protrainz.com/download.htm. Although beforwared that this one might/will need some errors fixed to work in TS12.
One last loco that is not available right now but hopefully it should be soon. Check with the download station frequently. It will be listed under username N8PHU. He is being allowed to fix content for another user and upload them to the DLS.
When it it listed it should be CP ES44AC .
I know not all of these are dash 9's but they are some modern CP loco's. Plus this is trainz, It doe not have to be prototypical. Especial when they are free.
Kenny

Did I mention some of these may need to be fixed to work correctly?:)
