2019 Trainz I’m hopeful that you change the install procedure to eliminate the need to install in C: Users directory. For the past years everyone has switched to smaller SDD drivers or modules on motherboard for faster install of operating systems. Everyone installs games on a larger terabyte drives to handle file size. Tane on my drive is over 120 gigs right now when I had to move the files it was a total pain. As stated in your directions on moving these files in C: Users directory they must be left there and your suggestion to consider these as a backup are you kidding.

In 2019 on initial install very simple C: option (Laptop users) or D: for all files for desktop users.

You definitely don't need to leave either your install folder or your local data folder on C: Drive. Please provide the link you are referring to so that we can update it.

What you do need to leave in C: Drive is the userdata-redirect-map.txt file (which is a few KB at most).

leaddog -regarding that C:/users part if memory serves me right it's from Microsoft's guidelines for user data storage of why content is stored there by default.

In Tane New Era SP2 in settings high lighted in blue Instructions for moving files links to http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Help:Moving_Content

In instructions
WARNING:

  • DO NOT ever delete the C:\Users\<pc name>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\TANE folder OR the userdata-redirect-map.txt file in that folder.

  • This file is required by TANE to ensure the Local Data Folder is found.
  • If the redirect file does not exist, TANE will create a new one and create a new local data folder in the default location and you are back to your starting point.

Seems clear enough to me, don’t delete that one file or the folder it is in, doesn’t say anything about any other user data which you can move elsewhere by following the instructions.
