2009 Beta looks just like TRS2006!

The same track texture, cab gauges etc. I see no difference between the beta and the TRS 2004/2006 of old.

What did I do wrong?

I started with a clean installation of the beta, no previous versions of TRS exist on this machine. I loaded up a few routes and the track textures and cabs are the same as the old version.

That is because the majority of the content at this point is old content. As time goes on more and more content will be developed to take advantage of the new features available in 2009.

2009 was made so it would be backwards compatible with most of the older content. This was what was loaded so people could test the functionality of the new version.

If you check CMP in 2009 you can find which content was developed for 2009. (Right click on the toolbar and check the 'version' option)

i have heard that classics is trainz 2006 although for extra contents.

maybe trainz 2009 will be classics with extra contents?

We have included most of the previously released content to ensure backwards compatibility.

For a list of new FEATURES, please read www.ts2009.com/wb.php.

For a comparison of the type of content you can expect to see in 2009 and upcoming releases, check out http://www.ts2009.com/screenshots.php

Just like each version of Word or Excel looks similar on the outside, each edition adds more new features and capabilities. If you import a letter from Word 2003 into 2007 it looks the same but you've got new options what to do with it.

TS2009 adds dozens of cool new things like the ability to replace every asset with a new one. For example, let's say you have a winter scene and want to change it to autumn. Select Winter Tree 1 and replace with Autumn tree 1. Select Winter House 1 and replace with House 1 (no snow on the roof). Select Winter track (covered with snow) and replace with Leafy Track etc.

There are new search and filter functions to make finding content easier in Surveyor, the new terrain grid and so on.

Well, I'm about to blow my trumpet!!! (Not really). Nine month's ago (approx) I wrote in the forum, - Watch this space, "TRS2009 is on the drawing boards" and it's going to blow our sock's off...
(At that stage Auran's outlook wasn't as good as it now is).
That four lettered word starting with F... nearly sent Auran to the wall, but to their credit they have come back with both gun's blazing.
They have successfully launched a "must have TC3" that's exceeded my expectations & now they've launched the beta1 version of TRS2009.
To me, it's bloody great that a company, with the help of it's loyal community can pick themselves up and continue to head forward in leaps & bounds after the you know what (s...) nearly hit the fan... I don't say this to 'waste' in anybody pocket, particularly T's. (TC 1&2 comp still needs to be sorted out)!!!
Sure TRS2006 & the TC series have had a few problems - bugs, but we don't live in a perfect world.
Generally speaking, most of us die-hard Trainz fans have been able to live with a few imperfections & just "get on with it", (& really enjoy what's been on offer).
Auran has promised a lot with TRS2009. I've looked at the beta1 ver of 2009 and it looking very promising...
A really good leap forward, with backwards compatibility......
Hey, sure it's not perfect yet, & there's going to be a some problems/bugs that are going to need to be fixed. But isn't that what where hear for???
Pointing out those problems & bugs so they (Auran) can't say, "we the community" didn't let them know about them.... (what software these days doesn't have problems/bugs . A good case in point is MS XP/Vista)...

To me & I'm sure 1000's of other loyal Trainz fans, TRS2009 is a big leap forward... So what if there's a "few minor problems" in the meantime. "Live with it" & bring it to Auran's attention... Try & help the Auran team make this the best Trainz sim's 'out there'...
(So far in my opinion, the opposition is still trialling behind, but there's no time for complacency)...
Cheers, Mac...

*** My old 'grand pappi' use to say to me; "son, your either part of the problem, or your part of the solution". Which part do you want to be???
(I certainly know which part I want to be here). I'm sure you do too!!! Cheers... :hehe:
