Today marks the 16th anniversary of the SP/UP merger. September 11, 1996 the Surface Board of Transportation announced the two companies would combine and the SP which had been marked as the surviving company was instead denoted as the "Fallen Flag" and the UP would assume all railroad operations. This sealed the fate of the SP and officially marked the end of a 131 year era of the Espee and their reign as the friendliest and most famous company came to an end as the historically rich class I major carrier railroad ceased to exist. Like the ATSF, the SP is gone but not forgotten. You are missed and will be missed sorely. My thoughts and prayers to all who worked for this beautiful company and may you find peace in whatever you do. We can't see your face although I believe you're in a better place.

Well, while your busy giving thanks to the Southern Pacific, the rest of America is paying dues to the fallen from 9/11...

By this time, the SP was dying anyway... and you act like the people who worked died? They didn't, a lot got hired with UP...

Well, whenever you get over your SP addiction, do make some time to say thank you to your firemen and remember that day.

Yeah yeah, SP forever.

Well excuse me please. You don't know whats going with those people. Is it a crime to show respect to those who worked for the SP? And yes I do thank everyone for doing their part in 9/11. And I'm sure we mourn over things and people that we obviously knew what was about to happen. So excuse my moment of homage Josh.

Are you flipping kidding me right now? Are you a bloody dunce? Pay your respect with the people who risked their flipping lives to save our dang country. You should be ashamed of yourself

Oh looky here!
Another one of those high quality threads full of wonderful reading material. Only thing worth reading here was Josh's comment.

Ah yes, the poor Southern Pacific. Please, foamer, do we need a thread instigating that you are crying over the UP/SP takeover?
Progress is progress, you got a heritage unit out of it, there's still SP junk roaming the rails.

For some who is supposedly going into the service...you sure do post some awful immature stuff.

Just my observations and thoughts though...

Cheers,
Woody

I do honor and respect those who died on 9/11 and everyone who has died for this country. Just because I don't say anything about it doesn't mean I don't care jerk!!!! I just decided to give SP a tribute since we've never given them one before.

The thing is...and 9/11 aside...this post hardly seems like tribute to the SP employees, but rather a foamer thread whining about his favorite railroad having gone under years ago.

Just my thoughts,
Woody

I'm not a foamer!!!! And you obviously don't know the difference between the two and I threw those faces in their just for fun. And I could care less if the SP is around or not. I'm hoping to land with BNSF in the near future and move out of California.

And you are just clueless. Actually you are the one who sounds immature. And there's been a helluva a lot of immaturity on these threads and you people must always try and make me look I'm some phony crybaby and always does stupid stuff and act like none of you people don't ever do anything foolish. That's one way of being immature and that's what I call a fool.

THE HELL WITH THIS!!!! I refuse to talk about the SP on here anymore. It seems someone always has an issue and crus like a baby about it do I won't discuss them anymore. I hope this makes you foamers happy.

Mods please close this thread at once. I'm tired of all these God Damn flame wars. I've had enough closed threads as of already.

Do you not notice how you present information? You start the war yourself then wonder why it all comes back. Every thread you start about the Southern Pacific is whining that they are not in existence.

I don't try to whine. And it seems that every time I say something it comes off as whining although I see some things on this forum that is truly whining but I guess it would just be wise to say I'm wrong and you guys are always right since I don't know anything.

I agree with you hert, Kris if you don't post such useless information, people around here might actually understand you, but since you don't know how to do that you just get all upset and start to flip out on everyone though you were the one who started it.

Couldn't agree more, you simply hit the nail right on the head.
