10m to 5m grid setting

IDK ... but I read that using the 5m grid more than doubles the amount of memory used, over that of a 10m grid, as trainz has to view 9 grid points, as opposed to 4 grid points ... which adds up quickly to millions of more points on a 10,000 baseboard route ... walls, and slanted splines, can be used much more effectively, than the 5m cutting tool

Hi Bill
In TS12, you right click on the 'add baseboard' icon, and this will open up a window which will give you the option for the grid size. In TANE, it's done by clicking on the little drop down window in the middle of the 'add baseboard', and 'remove baseboard' icons.

The 5m grid essentially doubles the amount of information used for the baseboards, however if kept to just the baseboards close to the track there should be no major performance impact in using it on current systems. Baseboards do have a form of 'lod' on them, which will improve performance in the distance. It's definitely nowhere near the impact that cascaderailroad is trying to make it out to be; and a can be extremely effective both for texturing and for working with the terrain :)
