Been a dedicated gamer since the late 70's when the first games such as pong, invaders, breakout became available to play via arcades etc, I got into tabletop Dungeons and Dragons (and Tunnels & Trolls). I've maintained the hobby throughout my life, securing many games since my first purchased PC in the mid 80's (a 286 that had a processor speed of 25KHz), I've built up a collection of hard copy and digital copies of around 15 000 games, most of which are part of my Steam account (over 9K).

I was forced into early retirement at 49 in 2005 following a serious cycling accident. I used to cycle 40 miles every day partly to keep me fit and partly to save money on transportation (as most of my money went on buying computer games). I was sent home from the hospital following the accident with supposed bruising and a sprain. In reality I had serious head injuries, that left me with brain damage and took nearly 7 years to prove as well as 4 broken vertebrae, two of which were serious. I lost almost 4 inches in height and it took nearly a year of constant visits to my GP before I was believed because they thought I was trying to make a bogus insurance and compensation claim. The initial hospital report that stated I had received bruising was full of lies (basically filled in after I'd been discharged) and was believed despite an undisclosed report that was made by a consultant radiologist three days later about the x-ray {that had been taken on the day of the accident} that indicated I had actually broken my back. It took nine years of fighting for justice before I finally received compensation and an apology. Over the years since the accident I've become much more game oriented partly due to the fact that games help with my pain management. Simulators are one of my favorite genres as they take me into worlds that i can no longer explore physically due to my disability that are a direct result of the lack of care following the accident.
