We exchanged emails a few months ago regarding his West Side route. I'm assuming he simply moved on with life.

I just did this and found my new best friend! I connected a piece of invisible track of each end of the tunnel, then laid the unconnected tunnel track directly on it. Perfect! The train appears to be on the tunnel track while I stay above ground...Thanks for the tip!

I can tell you it can be done. A friend did the same thing for me, but not a clue how. I just said I needed a track to be at a certain height, and it was sent back done.
