Three quarters Scottish & a quarter English. Childhood days in BR(S) territory - Ashtead, Surrey, then Pyecombe, East Sussex (near Clayton Tunnel on the Brighton Line). Main childhood pastime trains (Hornby OO) then chemistry and electronics. School at Brighton College (next to closed Kemp Town Station). College in Brighton. Worked in computer industry from 1964 mainly as systems programmer or software engineer on process control systems and telecommunications systems (in Britain, Belgium and Ireland). From 2003-2006, did a research masters on the use of GIS for archaeology (linear earthworks), carried on doing research on linear earthworks until I found Trainz, then ... Now retired, but attend and speak at GIS and archaeology conferences. Usually tell fellow archaeologists that my interests are Iron Age linear earthworks and early 20th century railways in Britain and Ireland (where I now live).
Archaeology, online Astronomy, Trainz (mainly routes), religious dialogue and community development.
