Why is it that the primary driving wheels on more recent steam locomotives were so large? And why do diesel and straight electric locomotives usually lack large wheel sizes? Any answers would be highly appreciated.

A question regarding America's future high speed rail corridors: Will select existing lines be upgraded to accommodate high speed traffic, or will whole new routes be constructed?

So I've been wondering this for a long time, but, does anyone offer any pre-made maps for Trainz in which the terrain and textures are in place (and perhaps even roads and buildings), but tracks are not? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Farecoal

I have always wondered: throughout railroad history, have there ever been lines (most likely spurs) that were under completely private ownership by one individual? I would find it amusing if some millionare some time in the past had a spur constructed to his mansion for whatever reason haha.
