The slow speeds are generally due to grade and tonnage. Above 20 mph it becomes difficult to stop a heavy train on a 2+ percent grade. Curves further limit the speed those trains can travel. I meant the built-in "Portal", <kuid:-25:1264> Portal (build version 4.6). I created an asset derived from <kuid:-25:1264> Portal. I am wondering if my derived asset has the above problem, or if I should have derived from Portal Basic.

What is the difference between "Portal" and "Portal Basic"? Does the problem above also affect "Portal"?

There is a phase where the train emerges from the portal that is not yet controlled by the normal operations logic. That phase probably has a speed limit. I seem to remember that signals and switches have to be a certain distance from the portal to work properly/

I don't think NAFTA is entirely to blame for that. I am on the other side of the continent and the north side of the "line". We lost over half the lumber mills since 2009 (where I have data for), and many more earlier. And we also lost the rail lines where lumber was the main business.
