"Junction Link" problems in TS2010

This performs its stated function very well, except that for no apparent reason it forgets the settings. A typical example in TS2010 fully updated but not MP:

On a passing loop with extensions both ends of the loop road.

Each pair of end junctions are set to act symmetrically with two instances of "Junction Link"

Added a loco and then Quick Drive. Save route. Both sets of junctions switch as they should.

Return to Surveyor route without saving session, both instances of "Junction Link" still have the allocated name but no settings. The problem is that this is not consistent. Yesterday I added "Junction Link" to about 25 pairs of junctions, in and out of Quick Drive many times. I had no problems, however, today that route, opened in Surveyor, was stripped of all the junction settings.

Has anyone encountered this? If so could you find a fix for it?

If anyone wants to try this it is kuid:122381:10003 by Mizi on the DLS. It loads into the scenery menu not the track menu. I have found his address and have emailed him.

hey narrowgauge, you have to save that type of settings in a session only as it will not save on the parent route. same with active stations and industry's too.

This is an old problem many times discussed here. So far, no solutions... You set the settings and save the session. It will "remember" everything, but the map does not.

I searched for 'junction links' but found very little, nothing that mentioned problems. When was the discussion? It may have been in a previous forum.

Thanks for the comments but surely this qualifies as a Bug. If the route is saved by Quick drive and the data is maintained, but not maintained when saved, and disappears when reopened, it would suggest that the GS file is saving it to the wrong place or there is a bug in Trainz. I note that industry information is not maintained either, is this new to TS2010? I use the ARN numbering system for rolling stock, that allows originally allocated numbers to be remembered, why not this.

Having to reset every junction pair in a new session is a great pity, it completely negates the usefulness of the item.

My niggly frustration has eased somewhat, now I have sorted out how to use Sessions. Why doesn't Surveyor load the last Session, it seems to start with a blank session layer. Never mind, I never bothered with Sessions before. now I have to get used to using them. I suppose there is some logic in this somewhere, not obvious.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Peter

The best way to go is to set everything up in a session which you then use as a template for any other sessions that you create. e.g. Call it base session or something similar. It saves having to set everything up again for future sessions.

Thank. Brian.

Yes, I figured that out. Previously, I have not been concerned about sessions, now I have to take them into account. Just part of continued learning. Now I know that the changes won't be lost, it is no big drama to do them all again.

Thanks to all who replied.
