Hello all, this is my latest work in progress. Started a few days ago, this is Conneaut Creek. The railroad is mainly used by the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad for ore transport (although Norfolk & Southern are slowly creeping in). Trains of around 70 cars travel from Conneaut ore Docks 124 miles south to North Bessemer.

Anyway, here's a start, this is a view of Conneaut Creek, the line heading to the docks, and the two bridges are the Chicargo line (top) and the Ex. New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad line (bottom).

I'm only using pictures and google earth for this project, no additional programs, lets call it a self set challenge :D

Feedback is more than welcomed! Please comment! :D

Wow!

You've really done some nice work with this so far!

Picture...game...picture...game...... they're pretty darn close!

Can't wait to see more.

If you want some encouragement, go to my Hudson River Route thread. Look at the first page...then go to the last page. :)

WoW ... What a perfect fishing hole ! http://www.railpictures.net/images/d1/9/2/6/2926.1256007115.jpg

Are those 2 train lines still active ?

I bet that location has had many a washout, by looking at the plate girder bridge sides riverbank re-enforcments. There may be a corregated "wall" on the DLS somewhere. Search wall or fence http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php

Yes they are all still active, if you search Conneaut on http://www.railpictures.net you can see all of them being used :)
Okay I will search that! That would help!

Thanks

Well this square is nearly done, just fine details and textures to be done.

Do you all make an entire route before adding textures?

Very nice... I will be looking to see if you model the Ex NYC roundhouse (now a junkyard) on the approach road to the harbor.......

EDIT: Ooopppsss, that's near the Ashtabula Harbor I believe.. its been a few years. Sad fate for a roundhouse tho.

EDIT 2: Now known as Ashtabula Iron and Metal.

looking good, very realistic. Try "rampenmauerbreit" in the DLS, that could be a bit closer to what your looking for.
Cheers
