Programming ProtoLARS industries

MKT Forever and always
I'm totally stumped at this. I use LARS objects all the time, wether it be in sessions on Philskene's routes, or putting them in my own routes, etc. but i'm having trouble porgramming ProtoLARS industries. specifically the protoLARSagreggates industry. i was testing out a route i'm building and was trying to get the coal dump to work. i input all the stuff i need to (initial, consumption, all that) but when i open the session in driver, it says "No product configured!!" i went back in and none of the stuff i had inputed was there. i re-tried this several times with the same result, putting in anything i could think of to try and make the thing work. still nothing. maybe someone can come along and tell me what i'm doing wrong, 'cause i've run out of ideas.

Have you set up the industries in the right layer? You need to set them up in the session layer not route otherwise you lose the set up which is what appears to be happening to you. Hope this helps :-)

Have you read my little illustrated monograph on configuring industries and freight cars?

Phil

Phil,
I'm certain I haven't read your tutorial as I am on the learning curve with TS2010. Can you provide a link where we can find that tutorial?

Thanks!
Bill

yeah, i haven't heard of that...then again, i'm the guy that tries to build the car without the instruction manual and ends up with a pile of parts left over. :hehe:

PS, what's a "Layer?" is it something i have to program on the industry itself or something?

Moin,

@Phil, thank you very much for this tutorial, i´ll try it out the next time.
Also i want try to translate it to german language.
If that is finished anytime, will it be allowed to make it public together with the original on our website?

But of course

Hi Don --

" ... will it be allowed to make it public together with the original on our website?"

Certainly. Using interactive industires is one of the best features of Trainz. The more who understand configuring them the better.

Moin,

Thank you very much.
As first step we have included your original in our Downlad area, so if anyone want, the original is also available for download here.
