Route maker in the works
Alright its come to my attention that whenever a content creator has a new work in progress people bug them like crazy untill they just end up leaving... This should really stop because were losing good people. Yes were all human and human nature means were curious but that doesnt mean bug the crap outta someone... Ive learned my lesson from one of these situations maybe everyone else should too...

I have the opposite problem...I want to be bugged, I want other people to get interested in what I'm working on. But there's nobody there.
I guess it all depends on what the content subject is.

Hey LWVRR, what are you working on at the moment ? Some pics would be nice and perhaps you can let us know when it will be on the DLS :p

What drives me crazy are people who post images of assets they are working on or have completed that are not and maybe never will be available to other members of the forum (or community). For example: Iceman post images in the 2010 screenshot thread of some fantastic looking stuff that he has created. Why does he make all our mouths water when he knows it is not now nor may never be made available. Same thing with Fredo and Mistral69. Beautiful work but why tease us with stuff we can't have. I have reached a point where I almost ignore the 2010 screenshot thread and Fredo's thread. If you don't want to share it or sell it to us, keep it to yourself. It is like drinking a glass of ice water in front of a man dying of thirst.

Yes I know, I have visited your site several times and you have put a lot of effort into it. I suppose I was being sarcastic about your comment that no one takes any notice. No offence intended. Keep up the good work

Darn, I was hoping you found something new!

Crazy idea, but perhaps the content creators could wait until they are finished before announcing anything?

Yeah...that is a crazy idea. Some people post WIP shots because they are hoping to get some helpful feedback while they are working on a project.

Cheers,
Fred

That is true but im talking about the people willing to do work for us and we treat them like that we are doing the project people just need to back off situations like yours are not the same as the ones im talking about.

This is why I quit announcing projects. I just do them and then pop it on people.... saves a lot of pain and suffering.

Why does everything need to be released. Some great modelers here and all everyone can clamor about is why can't I have it.

Would it be too much to ask to compliment someone on their work? Instead we have the why can't I have it mess. If they wish to release, they will do so when they are ready.

Until then, enjoy what they have, if only in screenshots, and look forward to what can be done. If you feel the need to absolutely have what they have shown, make it. They did, why not you. The tools and basics are there. Use them instead of hounding someone to release something you feel you need. Didn't have it before, why do you need it now.

Gimme replaced "nice work" way to long ago here. Try it yourself for a change instead of expecting it delivered. How many others have already done that.

Dave.......

I don't think he was talking to you, I think that was addressed to the ones posting zillions of in progress shots without ever actually finishing anything - those are the ones you mostly see "getting the crap bugged out of them" until "its driving content creators away". I honestly don't see this as a huge problem, occasionally you might see an actual content creator who is so sensitive he needs a Prozac every time he reads a gimmee pig post, but most of the "content creators" that leave are the "I'm thinking about maybe sometime possibly making a mega route all the way from NYC to LA, can someone tell me how to lay track?" types.

A chicken who lays eggs has a right to cackle, a chicken who cackles because she's THINKING about MAYBE laying an egg at some point in the indefinite future will end up in the stew pot. :hehe:
