Lets predict Trainz 2011

For fun, lets predict Trainz 2011.
Some of my predictions are.

The minimum operating system will be Vista to take advantage of later versions DirectX .

A possible 64 bit version may be made available.

All historical routes from Trainz will no longer be incorporated.

Speedgrass a new feature.
Treez pack incorporated.

I'd say all the old routes that don't have interactive industries and stations should be removed. So, routes from TS2006 onwards.

2011 version will be quickly followed up with many many service patches, with a newer much improved 2012 version ... one that actually works ... and has animated turnouts like MSTS2 would have had, if it had been released ... and speed trees and other nonsence would be totally eliminated ... and formost rigorous long term R&D developement and testing of the product prior to its release would be a first importance to Auran over its hastily released 09/10 versions.

As always it will be the best never, because if they made the best it would be the last one they sold.:hehe: But look out when open rails gets going it will knock the sox of RW and TRS.

I don't see a 2011 version at all. The next will be 2012, IMO.
If there is a 2011 product, I do not plan to jump aboard immediately as I did with 2010. I will wait and see what the reviews are, and at least for 2 SP's.
Of course Auran will offer me a 20% discount voucher because I purchased TS2010, and most likely, that voucher will expire before I really want to purchase the new product, so instead of waiting and paying the 20% more, I'll buy the product, but probably not install it for quite some time thereafter:hehe:

What is this about Open Rails? Does "open" mean open source??
I would love to see an open source project. That way, anyone who had a better idea could write the code, and a new patch would be available quickly. And besides that, open source usually means free, doesn't it?

I doubt there will be a South African route because there is no rolling stock and only 2 locos (no steam engines) .
S.A. uses narrow guage though and this would appeal to a lot of users.
All Steam would be SAR (South African Railways) or SAS (Suid Afrikaanse Spoorweg). Later stock would be Spoornet.

I dl and install Open Rails, but it is looking for MSTS. I don't have MSTS installed, but do own a copy.
I am thinking that Open Rails is just another TS where you run pre-built routes, not to build your own like Trainz. If that is the case, it will never be a competitor to Trainz.
The thing I love the most about Trainz is building my own routes. That is one reason I never re-installed MSTS after installing Windows 7.

It would include quite a few broken pieces of content that weren't properly tested before hand, but that is okay, because we now have speedrockz. That is right, watch as the world come alive with animated rocks that actually shake.

Most content will now be broken as a result of new updates that "fix" some "problems." Of course, the things that have been demanded for 10 years will not be addressed, so no doppler, no new collision physics, no real change in general. But we will have a shiny new interface. This is partly due to the fact that they pumped it out in 1 year, and partly, because that is what we have been seeing lately.

It will be a pretty good game, but nothing really special, as it won't be that big of an improvement, just pretty much a small update. People will buy it, though it won't be super popular, so the dates of dropped support for 09 and 2010 will be pushed up a few years in order to boost sales of 2011.

I wonder if it will contain a new rail system built by BP along all the Gulf Coast States.

New industries:

Picking up tar balls along the beaches.

Picking up dead wildlife.

The new rail system will be functional for the next 20 years or more.

Routes I'd Like To See In 2011

Trainz 2011 will more than likely be the best installment yet.
These routes would go great in 2011.
Routes:
Toronto Rail Lands 1954
Razorback Railway
CSX Saginaw Subdivision
East Kentucky
Conrail Lincoln Secondary
Hawes Branch
Highland Valley
Marias Pass
Cajon Pass
Northeast Corridor (stench707's version)
CN Holly Subdivision
USA City and Country 3.0 (a better and improved version made by Auran)
Wisconsin Central system
TUME's Milwaukee Road route
Outback Australia
Robe River Iron

These routes would be perfect for 2011.

I've deleted/disabled all BP content from my routes and from CM. It really makes me sick just to look at their logo anymore.

I predict 30 people will be bitching about it and 30000 will be using it happily and wondering what all the fuss is about. A bit like TS2010 really.

What about splitting Trainz and creating an edition for die-hard railroad enthusiasts that would include improved prototypical signals, crossings, rail sounds (like track, bridge, tunnel, and doppler), as well as better train physics and realism.

And a second, "watered down" version for the every-day "got to have it" fan who buys every new game and couldn't care less about trains themselves.
This version would go light on the realism, but heavy on appearance.

For all versions, we need a new game engine. One that would be more efficient, and adapt itself better for the system it is running on. Those like I, who still have a single core processor on a 5+yr old system could still enjoy better performance, albeit without some of the "eye candy" that more powerful systems would get to see.

Honestly, I would appreciate better game performance and more realism more than nice looking trees that sway in the breeze.

G'Day FW, yes it is open source and at this point it uses MSTS files but the eventual aim is to have its own modelling, route building and activity editors and also be able to use other content.
It is still very much in its infancy but goals have been set and if reached it will be great.

Not sure if I see a 2011. Now a 2012, that will be a winner. Improved speedtree assets, Improved modeling of rolling stock. Many more baked items, also more flexibility with painting textures. Not sure how but better blending.
