TS2010-SP2: a Question to Auran.

I have downloaded and installed TS2010-SP2 (from 41615- to 42203). This took about one hour.
After the Patch I have 6553 faulties in CMP. (Before the Patch 0 faulties).

The description of the errors are all the same: (except the hash-nr.)

"Error: Internal error. Unable to validate asset hash-83\kuid 253351 1017 at the current time"
I have installed TS2010 on Windows7 (64 bit) and had no problems before the patch.
What can I do ?
Thanks in advance.

the patch is taking forever to complete on my system - it's like 5% done and it's been 20 minutes, so something is no doubt wrong. It says its in the 'unpacking' stage, so I don't think it is still downloading.

Trainz service packs tend to take a while to install, due largely to the way the files are stored - any change to a built-in asset will need to be decompressed, committed into the database system, and recompressed.

People reported that TS2009 SP3 took upwards of 5 hours, so expect the same sort of timescale for TS2010 SP2.

Run an extended database repair once or twice. The errors should go away.

The progress bar doesn't really reflect the time remaining. It will move at different speeds depending on what the patcher is doing.

Hi,

Although it only took 8 mins to download the patch, the actual patching went on for ages. I don,t know the exact time it took, but I know I had my lunch, took the dogs for a walk and went shopping.:)

I don,t know if it is a factor, but I have a high end spec machine, so I think it is just a matter of being very patient.

Cheers, John

Be aware that once the SP has finished installing and you have exited the patcher, CMP and TrainzUtil still have a lot of work left to do, they will spend the first 20-30 minutes after you run CMP or Trainz checking and verifying the database, during this time you likely won't be able to do anything (at least in CMP none of my filters would work, and it wouldn't quit at all).

Using Procmon showed that TrainzUtil was going through all of the built-in assets and rebuilding them, which is quite a major undertaking.

After about 25 minutes it finally stopped TrainUtil's run, and the filters suddenly worked ;)

Just wanted to share this in case anyone else is greeted by CMP's 'Please Wait', and panics thinking something is broken.

I have had the same problem. With me it helped to make a complete new install from the beginning and apply the patch before you import your local and original folders. Errors are gone.

Noticed this Post today "TS2010 SP2 manual patches are now available."

I have build 41491

is there a patch available for this

"Error: Internal error. Unable to validate asset hash-83\kuid 253351 1017 at the current time"

Try running an extended database repair once or twice. In my case, after the EDR, I also had to select the assets in CM and click the view errors button. It came back 0 errors, and when I re-ran the errors query, the errors were gone.

Hope that helps,
Curtis

Hi

Although the patch install appeared to run perfectly with no problem I have exactly the same issues as barbeam except I have 11,748 faulty assets. Repeated extended database repairs haven't reduced this number at all. Opening the assets for edit has no effect and the revert and revert to original buttons are greyed out and inopperable. It would seem that the patch installation has corrupted something in the core program as a large number of faulty assets are built in ones. Unless someone has any further suggestions I think that the only solution for me is to remove the program and carry out a fresh install.

1 hour and 35 minutes to patch and update, long period of waiting while CM did its thing, all OK no more faulty assets than the ones I had to start with and no need to run an extended database repair.

@Kennilworth:

Try first what Curtis suggest:

use the filter : faulty assets
select all
click view errors and warnings
close the error window
click view errors and warnings once more and let the window open a few seconds
after closing window then, the most errors should be gone

Hi DonZer63

Thanks for the suggestion but this was one of the first things that I tried and it had no effect at all. I have now deleted the installation and am reinstalling the program. Will let you all know tomorrow if it works.

Wonder if the fact that I did an extended database repair yesterday might be why I didn't have any problem?

A fresh install would probably limit the amount of potential problems, but for some of us (like me) that would also mean having to install SP1 first since the version I originally installed is the original release version (RTM) rather then the SP1 version sent out on the fixed discs.

I remember with TRS2006, I copied the Local folder out of the directory. Then when the patch was complete, I re-installed the folder. Would this help? It seems that the custom contenet is what holds up the patch.

For what it's worth I put SP2 over a fresh install of Build 41622 (includes SP1) - took about 90 minutes to patch with zero content issues...
