I will be reformating my computer soon because I have too many virisus I found 50 today! But is there any way of backing up my routes I have made so I when I reinstall TRS06 I can put all my old routes on there.
I'm new to Trainz, so maybe I'm confused. I've been copying my local folder to an external hard drive for backup, so if I had to reformat my hard drive, why wouldn't I reinstall Trainz, then copy my local folder from my external HD back to the local folder on C:? Wouldn't this work as well?

This will work fine most of the time and will back up any downloded assets, but if you upgrade your Trainz version you may have to import the local content rather than just copying it back. If you have spent hundreds of hours creating a route, exporting it as a .cdp file (and putting it in a fireproof safe in Fort Knox) is a good extra backup!
I think "nzld" was just outlining a way to safeguard your data if you do a planned reformat (as opposed to having a disaster).
can't have too many backups so I'll do the local folder copy and the export to .cdp as well since I have too much time and effort in my routes to risk losing them. External hard drive space is pretty cheap right now.
