when i get my logs into the lumber mill and then the lumber boards come out...what building do i take that to...i cant seem to find one

Well that depends. If you are running old time routes, you can take the lumber to certain mills that require lumber to reinforce mining tunnels. There is also a lumber warehouse. You can take it to docks where ships take lumber. It all depends on if you are running your own routes where you can install your own industries, or if you are running built in routes that may or may not have a lumber eating facility.

From memory, the only builtin Industry that consumes Lumber is the Seaport, there are other Industries on the DLS (DownLoad Station) that consume Lumber, like the Ikea Industry (kuid:189041:221:2).

Of course there is always the M.I.N (Multiple Industry New) track that can be configured to consume Lumber.

There's a flowchart in the manual which shows the relationships between the built-in industries and products. It has a few minor mistakes but it's still very useful.

Logs can be taken to a lumber mill or a seaport.
Lumber can only be taken to a seaport.
Wood chips can be taken to a pulp mill or a seaport.
A pulp mill produces general goods which can be taken to a container station, seaport or airport.
A container station produces containers which can be taken to a seaport or an airport.

Multiple Industry New can be configured to consume and produce any products you wish. Additional industries have been created by users and some of these may consume logs etc.

Maybe I could start another thread, but on the subject of MIN , It is fastidious that a commodity can be assigned to only one type of car. How can we select that for example, wheat could be carried by several apropriate cars? I am sure somebody has already made a point on this, but so far I have not seen any solutions...

primary: use the industry tracks in 'scenery' and right click on them to bring up a menu of products the track might work with. you can make the track take logs or take logs and give back 'lumber' -- things like that. then, put some scenery-pick building next to it -- the closest you can find which satisfies your idea of 'lumber mill' or 'loading dock' or 'wharf'?

You could also use the BI Lumber Unload Dock, Kuid 128094:27003, by Rdelinsky.
Jkerlee has the Lumber Warehouse, kuid
35815:26206.
Tafweb has two versions of Factory_8_Gengoods, one with snow (
1942:27029) and one without (1942:27019). These accept lumber and produce general goods. I use them myself.
These are all TRS04 assets, so make sure the filter is set to find them.
If you do a search for the subject Lumber you'll find several other toys you may find useful.

How about this one:
"Building Lumber Yard"
<kuid:-1:101385>
Built-in TS2009.

I would assume that the lumber yard would take lumber from the mill.

I haven't experimented with this aspect of TS yet.

you can think of some industry which uses wood as lumber, like a furniture factory. place a building and call it a furniture factory. place an industry track and set it to accept lumber and produce fine home widgets.

The best way to find what does/does not consume/produce whatever, is to use CMP/CM2. As an example, if you right click Building Lumber Yard,<kuid:-1:101385> you'll see that 'View Dependencies' is empty meaning that there are no commodities assigned to this scenery asset.

To see what assets can handle Lumber 16ft,<kuid2:30671:94407101:1> or Lumber 8ft,<kuid2:30671:94407100:1> right click either asset and select 'View Dependent Assets'. You'll get this list that show only LARS type scenery assets handle lumber. It also shows a list of traincars that I have that will carry lumber. Kind of stupid to use a Reefer to carry lumber unless you want to keep the snow on the boards:wave: .

LARS IndustRail,<kuid2:69871:10001:3>
PL Lumberyard,<kuid2:30671:27377:2>
PL WoodProducts,<kuid2:30671:27384:1>
ProtoLARS IndustRail,<kuid2:69871:10002:3>
TTX Centerbeam Flat1,<kuid:95761:15103>

50ft Boxcar Burlington CB&Q 47141 LARS,<kuid2:56063:190129:1>

MIN only wants the vehicle type so it can do the math and let you know how many carloads there is in that queue. This field has no effect on which cars can be loaded from any given queue.

Hi Chickenboi, I've found "Lumber Warehouse" to be quite suitable - I's active and you can change the stock values to suit your deliveries. Cheers,
