Hi,

I have installed TRS2006 on Windows 7 64-bit, the gold version (not a Beta).

It installed okay, and content manager seems to work fine. But when I try to run TRS2006 (right after I click "Start" in the TRS menu) I get an error:

I made sure .NET 1.1 (and 2.0) are installed. I tried both Direct X and Open GL. I have the latest Nvidia drivers for my 8800GT (and I'm not having problems with my other games). I even went into the properties of the shortcut in my start menu and told it to run in Windows XP compatibility mode with Admin privileges and that didn't help.

Anyone have a clue what's wrong or how I can diagnose or fix it?

I've seen in other postings around the web that TRS2009 is working on Windows 7 okay (but don't know if that's 32-bit or 64-bit Windows)...but was waiting to upgrade to TRS2009 until the Engineer's Edition comes out (assuming it's still coming out...)

Thanks!
Peter

Thanks...where can I find the log file?

(And...I see you're in Abilene...I'm modeling around Abilene in HO, MoPac and BN in the early 80's <g>)

In the TRS2006 folder JetLog.txt and may be worth looking at LauncherLog.txt as well.

2009 Works OK on Win7 64 bit Evaluation copy ........... if you get rid of the UAC controls or run it as an administrator, 2006 appears to be working OK on it as well, I just tried it from Win7 running direct from my Win XP partition, no problems at all. note I didn't install it in Win7, just clicked on the trainz.exe in the XP partition.

Thanks! I will send them all of the info. Just FYI the only additional information I see in the text logs are "InterfaceTextDB> failed to load compiled interfacetext file."

Well, that might have been predictable...here's the reply from support:

As TRS2006 was not tested on Windows 7, and as Windows 7 has not been released yet, we do not support TRS2006 (nor any other version of Trainz at this stage) on Windows 7.
I would suggest asking on the forums for assistance with getting Trainz to run under Windows 7.

Anyone have any ideas?

I suppose I could ask them again in September or October or whenever it becomes GA.

That fixed it! I had searched and searched through threads but didn't see that one. Thank you so much!
