I have just installed 12 can any one tell me how I can bring routes/content in from my previous 10, and also is there only 1 2 track rail line in 2012 if so does anyone know why and where has my LNER flying scotsman steam train gone :'( not a happy bunny after downloading 2012 :(

Anything that works in 2010 native mode will work in 2012.
Please use the register button (above right) for your copies of trainz.

Slight correction - the Register button is for registering new accounts.

Londongirl, you need to click Planet Auran then Serial Numbers - you will then need to fill in a small form for each of your versions.

Makes me wonder how I managed to do it last week with 12 and not remember how this week. :o

Hi Shane, had to create a new account last night :o thank you for your replies, but I just cant see how by doing what you said will get my content from 10 to my new 12.As you can tell I am not good on tecnical bits so if any one could tell me how to get the contents of 10 into 12 I would really apreciate it :) and why Auran is there only 1 double track in 12

It doesn't help you, but it helps us by knowing you have genuine copies of trainz, serial numbers can only be registered to 1 person.
Follow Shanes idea, click planet auran (top of page) log in. Select serial numbers and register them.
Apologies for duff info earlier which is probably why you created a new account.

Hi Fran1, I can see why you told me to do what you did, my trainz 2010 has been registered under my old account of Londongirl, but when installing 2012 my password not work so I had to make another account. Both serial numbers have been oked when I registered them. What do I do now please

looks like the form is messed up because you said you register you trainz 2010 on your other account. Well I looked under it and still nothing under there weird. hm

Quite frankly I wouldn't bother. I just imported my content/routes from 2010 to 2012, only to fing that, when opened in 2012, the imported routes had large chunks of content apparently missing - their places marked only by white, hatched double lines. Virtually all Maglev content was absent, along with several types of track (especially double track), roads, lanes, road & lane intersections, scenery items and buildings - most of it stuff that was built-in to 2010.
Updating these "absent" items (where updates were available) made no difference, so I am now faced with removing all these markers, and replacing them with suitable available content - and then re-doing the signalling, speed limits etc.
Yet another unhappy bunny on the N3V check list!

If you import content from 2010 you also need to import 2010's builtins, those that are not in TS12 or download them from the DLS, they have been put there specifically for TS12 users

No problem importing anything from 2010 here, if it was 2010 compliant to start with.

Two things arise.

Firstly, how about this for importing built ins from 2010 to 2012:

"Task Complete
0 errors 1 warning"
Unsupported file type for 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Auran\2010\Builtin/5.ja'

Secondly, when are these people going to produce something that works out of the box? Leaving the customer (usually after raising an issue in the Forums, rarely from N3V direct, or from the Helpdesk) to find out special arrangements have been made to overcome cock ups discovered by users (missed by the Beta testers?), and/or to have to get involved in config files and other such esoterics, simply isn't right. (Downloading from DLS is a start it, go to the cinema process, and for many of us, fiddling around in programs is not a comfortable process, however much the teccies may enjoy it.)

Hi Mike_Brown,

If you are getting that you are doing things incorrectly.

Follow the following steps to add TS2010 builtins to TS12:

1.Copy the TS2010 builtins (the .ja files) to a temporary folder.
2.Rename the TS2010 .ja files (the ones in the temporary folder) so that they do not conflict with the TS12 builtins - a way of doing this is to add TS2010_ at the start of each filename.
3.Move the renamed .ja files into the TS12 Builtin folder. Usually this is in <trainz install folder>/Builtin.
4.Add your TS2010 serial number into the TS12 Trainz Options box.
5.Run an extended database repair in TS12's Content Manager. This will add the TS2010 builtins into TS12.

If you wish to include non-built in content from TS2010, you can use the Import Content feature, and point it at the following Userdata folders in TS2010 (in order):

Original
Local

Shane

No need to rename the 2010 builtins Shane, they are named differently as in ts12a.ja, ts12b.ja etc. 2010 are named 1.ja, 2.ja etc.

There is a known fault with the game line that Auran know about and they are trying to fix it as soon as they can.

@Londongirl if you have registered your games on both accounts, you my have a problem later, as Auran will think the game has been pirated.
If you have registered your games only on one account then you should be safe.
