Download Updates Jinxed

The last two days, When I go to the DOWNLOAD UPDATES page the page is disabled by a script error.

Script errors
Thread exception : ER_Exception, line 202 Updatesmenu.gs (1)
Thread Exception : Empty string at parameter 1 (file HTMLBuffer.gs) (1)

It displays no updates and the only thing you can do is to return to the main menu.

Is this happening to me alone or are others plagued by this. Does anyone know?????

One possible solution is to go into content manager and see if any assets are open for editing. I did have a similar problem a few months back when the automatic updates did not fully commit some of the assets it had downloaded and installed. If any are open for edit then manually commit them - that may solve the problem.

I'm having a similar problem. It seems to be one particular asset that's causing the problem. I D/L the updates with CMP today which brought it down from 48 to 8 but the prob is still there. (the dreaded red dot and something about a script menu) I'm sure the bods will sort it out.

ahhhh....

Good idea -I'll double check in content manager. I'm sure it is one of the items from the download update list that has tossed me a curve ball.

Frustrating

ARRGH! Checked CMP and nothing is open for edit. I still get the red dot of death on the Download Updates page.

hi :)
go in to cmp and do a extended database repair . works for me every time
( and all so you can do all up dates from the cmp
click on installed then in the little box on the side look for
(out of date) then select all .
move the lot over to down load box and down load all in one hit)

hope this help :)

I'll have to give this a try too. I have the same problem. There are 8 V&T steam locomotives in the download queue that won't clear.

hi john :)

go in to cmp
1 click on installed
2 add new box under location and local (left hand side)
look for out of date in drop down box
3 then go go to edit at the top of cmp and select all
4 right click and then click on view asset versons
5 then click on view in main list
6 then move the lot over to down load box and down load

hope this helps you out on the updates:)

I'll give that a try. Thanks! I did try updating these item within Content Manager, but they show multiple missing versions with :? and then the most recent one, which is still considered out of date. I think I'll just delete them and see if I can download them again and see what happens.

One of the things I did though, which I forgot to mention, is create a tab called OTD Local (out of date local). Simply Out of Date, Location Local. This is a great way to see what's installed and out of date versus what's out of date on the DLS.

OK
I did the EDR and all OK BUT!! Had to redo my password under option/internet on the start menu. Then I had to redo name and password in profile.(just did the same ones. Now everything appears to be allright) I'll add to this thread if I find anything wrong.

Hmm, for clearing the red dot on the trainz updates page close trainz. Goto the folder Userdata / cache / internet and empty that folder. Now start trainz again, the update list will be rebuild and if all is well the red dot has vanished. Worked over here at least. :hehe:

Greetings from sunny Amsterdam,

DLing the UMR winter megaroute brought back the red dot. On checking, there was one red flag on a asset(some loader) I repaired the asset and all returned to normal with the updates. Possibility.

The red dot has been discussed in a previous thread, it is just CM and the DLS out of sync with each other, when they catch up it clears the red dot.

Updates Jinxed

I am glad that I wasn't the only one with this problem. My problem started after I imported my old assets. I will try some of your solutions. I also had some trouble downloaded assets marked as ?, when I with to the download station they were for Trainz 2012 and not Trainz 2011. I hope this helps.:udrool:

Please explain in more detail on exactly which feature(s) in Content Manager are not working.

If it is not loading, then it's likely to be outdated graphics drivers.

Also, some features in Content Manager require that you register your serial number with N3V.
