2010 Christmas Locomotive - a little early!

Hi All
The ZR workshops have, surprisingly, completed this years Christmas locomotive ahead of schedule (although there are a few issues to correct!), with planned release on the DLS in the next few days :)

A few shots from a test/display run today... The loco was being displayed at a small 'festival' at Sometown...

F174 sitting in the ZR Workshops platform, waiting for departure to Sometown.

A little while later, F174 is seen pulling into Sometown platform, viewed from the veranda of the pub across the road. The loco will be shunted into the yard a little later, so as to allow a number of trains to pass through.

A short time prior to the train shunting back into the platform for the 'festival', we see F174 simmering away with the full lighting setup turned on...

A second view from the rear of the locomotive...

Enjoy!

Nearly Time....

Hello Everyone,

Well Peter C, it starts from Southport- Ernest Junction with a short section of the Tweed Head line before the Portal. The main section runs on to Helensvale at the moment due to this is not a DEM route, totally handbuilt from scratch. Yesterday I had to re-align the 'dog leg' outside the station back to gentle curve from the very dangerous sharp curve.

I have slightly confused with the layout of Ernest Junction, becuase John Kerr puts the station building on the straight of the loop, then Brain Webber says its at the South Brisbane end; could you pleasehelp me Peter, becuase its getting quite confusing.:eek:

Dear Daniel & Peter, I am just speachless; I am going to give both of you boys high regard for your heartstopping screenshots. Keep up the good job, mate!

Anyway, I have been doing one of 4490 Model's (Paul Hobbs) tutorial's on how to build your first engine. I will show some screens after 5 or less, it has taken me 2 days and countless hours of backtracking, fustration & getting back on the road. But I am still getting there..:D

*Beta's of my routes will be send off this afternoon*

Now some screenshots of my Jewel In the Crown Of the QGR;

Sorry, I came in late but where does your Southport line start; South Brisbane or Ernest Junction?

Thanks

Hopefully next year's Christmas Loco will SPARK a FEW WIRES!:hehe:

Capitals are hints

Jamie

Gee, how subtle. I hope they get it.

Daniel, nice shots as always.

Tallmiketc, looking good. Love the second shot, especially the embankment.
Very nicely done.
Is the route a fictional or prototypical line?

Matt.

@squeekazoid,
I would be happy to send you my new G class mesh if you want to have a go at retexturing in gmax

cheers

Looking good, everyone. Michael, I look forward to seeing the results of your first attempt at a loco. Paul's tutorials are an invaluable resource for anyone wishing to get into Gmax. Personally, I've yet to have a crack at building a loco. I'll just stick with rollingstock for the moment too. I have a longer rollingstock wishlist than loco wishlist.:hehe::hehe:

Hi Michael,

I'll check my literature and get back to you in a few days. I have also seen the puzzle in other documents that you mention re the station location and I'll see how I can help.

Cheers

Well after much anticipation, here is Queensland Government Railways wee shunter which I have offectionally christened "Balmoral" after R.M Queen Victoria's scottish residence { I might re-do it into the NSWGR 18 Class just for those NSW chaps} . Its taken be two days and a lot of screaming also a lot of pacience while trying to read Paul Hobbs's notes; here she is:

Hi Michael,

May I suggest you start a new thread about the Southport line as there could well be a few more messsages back and forth. As this is a screen shot thread, we may end up in a long discussion and thus off topic for this screen shot thread.

Thanks
Peter C
