Default Monticello Railway Museum-Fireworks Special July 3rd 2009.

Hello Everybody,
I thought I'd update you all (at least the ones in Illinois) on MRM's upcoming event, the Fireworks Special.

Monticello Railway Museum will host it's Fireworks Special July 3rd 2009, as part of the 4th of July festivities.
The train will depart the Wabash Depot in downtown Monticello Illinois at 8:00 pm.

Bring lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray.
The train will stop just north of the Nelson's Crossing depot at our mowed recreation area where a food tent will be provided.

The food tent will serve:
Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, Hot Dogs, Polish Sausage, Lemon Shake Ups, Soft Drinks and Candy.

We will provide two open windows coachs, free baggage service, an open air car, and two air conditioned coachs.
The train will be shut off for the fireworks show.

Fares,
$10 for adults
$8 for children 2-12
2 and under are free with adult (duh)

Space is very limited!
Purchase tickets at the following link,
www.mrym.org
Hope to see you there!
Woody

Man, that makes me wish that I lived near there. That sounds like a great way to spend the holiday.

Yeah, it actually helps people avoid the park traffic, which is a nightmare!
In order to do it that way you have to,
Travel through town with over 10 intersecting streets (lot of traffic), then cross Interstate 72's odd ramps (due to Market Street being Illinois 47 which everyone denies, 72 replaced 47) then head into a narrow, 1 lane park entrance at Lodge Park.

Our way on the train is like this,
Head to the Wabash depot, get your ticket, give your chairs and blankets to the baggage people, get on the train, the train will leave and go through all those streets without stopping once, then we will park north of Nelsons, and you can enjoy the show!

This was the first event I ever volunteered for, so it will always be special.
It is a long journey for me, just for one train trip, but it is so worth it!
