USA Pics

Later that same day around sunset, locals gathered to watch preserved SP 4-10-2 #5033 do a light engine 'race' with two KCS ES44s lashed to two BNSF C44-9Ws and a BNSF SD70MAC. Seems someone was able to really get a good shot as the two engines barreled through, needing expert handling to make this kind of shot possible.

Spokane WA.The last shot with Sunsest Jct. It is time to move a little farther ......

I feel like a complete dunce asking this, but I ain't exactly your HIGHLY DETAILED, TOP OF THE LINE content creator, but I need someone to explain to me, (possibly through a PM), how these crossings work. I'm very slowly making a small, fictional, personal route, and I'd like to use these. I just can't figure out HOW to. :hehe: Thanks to any help.:hehe:

If it's the ATLS crossings you're trying to use, you'll need these things: In Object (F3) mode-ATLS Controller, ATLS Slave, and some form of ATLS crossing gates, and some form of traffic stopper. In Track Objects Mode (F4, y), you'll need ATLS trigger.
I used the built in Mohave route as a template to learn and experiment with.

I couldn't tell you the specifics. I'm not the biggest computer wiz :hehe:. I can tell you I got them from saxrt.com, and they're nothing like BNSF50's Grade crossings. But thanks for this much help, every detail counts .

Otherwise known as the pause button! :hehe: Great shot man!

Lol thanks. I didn't use the pause button actually. Its all about the timing. Since the 4-10-2 and the ES44 are a bit different i speed, i use my mouse pointer to move the speed dial (yes this was in DCC mode) and also a homemade formula for the engine speed. Since the wheels on the ES44 are probly about 35-40" diameter, and the 4-10-2 has comparable drive wheel diameter. For every drive wheel on a steam engine, count it as 1, 1 1/2, or two depending on the diameter of the steamer's drive wheels. Example: 3 C44-9Ws and an SD70MAC versus T&P #907. That comes down to 1 1/2 times the distance moved, thus needing four diesels to match the speed of the #907 in order to get a similar shot.
