Neat theme. You may want to explain it a bit more though. For US stuff at least, are you referring to First Gen diesels? If so, then anything made after the U25b would be considered second gen.
Not strictly historic, but they are quite old Italian Diesel cars (ALn668’s) used from the 1950s.
However, if they are not old enough I can claim that they were extensively used around the Italian lakes for the morning commuter runs. Starting out at approximately 0530hrs they thus qualify as “Early Diesels”!
I am not expert but the Alco C series where known as 2nd generation diesels I would consider early diesels ones that ran with steam so that cuts pre1960 for the most part. just my opinion

I considered putting an Amtrak train in, and claiming that it was arriving into the station 10mins early (which is unheard of for Amtrak, which usually runs 2hrs late).
