SW Pennsylvania Mon River Line

The route is far from complete.... I haven't actually worked on it in quite a while. I've been meaning to get back to it for a while.

Excited to see western PA getting some appreciation, I was just recently talking to a couple of people on here about making potiential AVR/SWP content. I live right in Jeanette PA along the NS mainline. Are you planning on expanding to the whole works down there? Like CSX,NS,and Union RR?

I'm not exactly sure where I am going with it at this point.... My main focus is the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel part from Monessen down around through Brownsville Back up to Allenport, but my DEM goes all the way out to Bailey mine and up as far as Braddock. It also includes a few miles of the W&LE line over the river at Speers to where the junction connects to the Koppers Coke Plant outside of Belle Vernon. I've worked all over the map but I think I'm going to work on the core route and cut baseboards so that it is usable then maybe go back to working on the outlying areas

Headed to Bailey

Blew the dust off of the Trainz machine and did a little more work in Stockdale and Roscoe on the Mon Line. SD60s lead PPLX empties to the mines through Stockdale. Cloudy day, but still good enough for some baseball in the park!

As of now, nope. It is a reskin of a JR caboose. I've got some ideas on how to come up with one I can release though.

Accomplished a little more around Lower Speers last night.....

Of course, every step forward brings a few more steps back. Parts of this route were started in TS2009. Now that I've (finally!) given in and moved to TANE, it shows off the good stuff really well, but it brings out the worst of bad stuff too. Lots of ground textures are terrible, some YARNish intersections are broken, and I've finally gotten tired of the fact that the YARN roads look like a strip of leather laid across the terrain. As I revisit places, I end up retexturing the ground, replacing roads with AASHTO ones, and replacing flat UTC-era buildings with better ones (like the foreground one in the pic with the signal - that's gotta go!). In other places, I'm not happy with ANYTHING I've found on the DLS and that means creating a custom building.

Nice work Scott :) Now that you've got in into TANE, mess about with the environmental settings and you'll be stoked with the results!

Welcome to the madhouse.... :)

This X 1000.

Take a look at the following two threads for some ideas and help with lighting and post-processing:

https://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?120245-Shaders-tricks-and-tips&highlight=Tram
(Older thread going back - I believe - to TANE beta. Some of the info in this thread may no longer apply.)

(This is a newer thread, and the one I currently go back to most often.)

Welcome to TANE, Scott! I really think you are going to enjoy it. :)

Regards,
MSP
