Bringing this thread back up. I am interested, as I am sure many others are in routes that feature ALL BUILT IN (ABI) content. I don't want to waste a lot of time finding assets or using the DLS. I think the TRS2006 on up DVDs have great content on them that can make several great routes and sessions. I am surprised that there are not more "ABI" routes. With the release of TRS2010, there really is no excuse not to make "ABI" routes, there is a lot of excellent content included.
It seems many people on these forums are only interested in the latest downloadable tree frog or polish wheel bearing from some 3rd party site. That's great if you are into that but you would also have to agree that much of the time that could be spent playing Trainz is used up setting things up and downloading. Enter TRS2010 and you probably spend an additional amount of time fixing assets before using them. Many routes that look great on the screenshots forum are certainly desirable but then when I see all the 3rd party and DLS required assets, I usually opt out of trying to get it. Just not worth the time and effort.
I recently released a couple switching layouts that use ABI 2010 assets. They were both easy to make, took little time to package up and provide hours of enjoyment. Anyone who tries them out only spends a matter of seconds getting them going. How easy is that.
So - my call for more ABI routes and sessions. The tools are there, let's use them.
. . . So - my call for more ABI routes and sessions. The tools are there, let's use them.
The problem with making good sessions is the lack of sufficient numbers of ABI freight cars for a US route. I refuse to make up 50 car freight trains using the same cars train after train. There is also the lack of ABI rules that are needed for a first class op session. That is why in the Big Session Making Contest, they allow using assets that are on the DLS, but not built-in.
I see no wisdom in asking our creative route and session makers to limit themselves to ABI content.

Yeah, because the Auran built-in content is often cheap (low-poly and with low-resolution textures) and some of it can be far from prototypical.
