For anyone running the Settle and Carlisle route you may be interested in the the following news item on today's BBC website. If you are quick and live near this route there may also be the opportunity to travel the line pulled by Tornado, A1 Pacific Class for a regular train fare. Peter

Me too, on the ECML from Harringay to Wood Green. I wonder how many of us went to school by steam train!
Would often see the Flying Scotsman, sometimes pulled by Mallard IIRC.

I remember travelling on the 'Harwich Boat Train' (Hook Continental) in the 50's it was steam hauled with Pullman stock.
