i did a search on download station for an asset referred to as a "carhopper" i.e.: a back hoe that sits and operates on the bulkhead walls of a gondola. Anyway, no luck finding such an item, but have seen them on YouTube! Anyone know them by another name ?

You could try "lowboy" but I do not think one has been made.

I don't think there are any tractors or similar vehicles made specifically for this, however, couldn't a similar one be attached to a gondola or hopper using the attachment maker?

There used to be one years ago on a gon with ties in it or equipped for ties. I think it had a tie fork on it though and not a bucket.
