Greetings.

Railroads are probably the most efficient and fantastic ways of crossing great distances. Sheer power and strength punching through long nights, harsh weather and unforgiving terrain. This week's theme is Long Distance. Please send your theme suggestions for subsequent competitions via email or Skype by clicking on the little icons below my username.

One screenshot allowed per entrant. Screenshots must adhere to the theme and the Trainz Forum Code of Conduct.

Submission closes on May 23 at 12:00 noon UTC/GMT/Zulu time.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

It doesn't matter whether it is scorching hot in Summer or freezing cold in Winter, the job must be done. These guys in the NKP #755 are in it for the long haul. A shot taken from scratchy's 'Coal Country' route - now 'Winterised'.

On the L&A's Cincinnati to Columbus main, we catch a meet between two trains in the summer of 1948. The trio of LE&E F units will take the train to Boston, arriving early the next morning, while the L&A 2-6-6-4 will lead it's stock train through Cincinnati, and on to Covington, KY; Nashville, TN; and points south. The LE&E gained trackage rights for high priority freights over the L&A in 1934, coinciding with a reduction in L&A service on the line. It would be the first time that the two rival roads would work together instead of against each other.

Tell you what; we're going to end up voting for the best pictorial-narrative here! Trainz lends itself so well to story-telling! :D

RMS Mauretania Approaching New York

New York Harbour 1927.

The passengers aboard RMS Mauretania still sleep peacefully as the pilot boat positions itself for final approach into New York Harbour.

Wherever they came from in Britain and elsewhere in Europe, these passengers have had a long, but pleasant and luxurious trip, care of Brunel's Great Western Railway from Paddington Station in London, to Plymouth and then by this beautiful ocean liner to this great metropolis of the New World.

For those that don't know, RMS Mauretania was not just a luxury ocean liner, but one of a fleet of fast Royal Mail Ships that carried mail from Britain to other parts of the world. Also, Plymouth is probably most famous as the city where Sir Francis Drake was said to have finished playing his game of bowls before, successfully, taking on the might of the Spanish Armada.

Enjoy!

Peter.

May 2013: After a long hard fought night, a stop and wait for a UPS train, and a total stall pulling the hill, this crew glides a CN manifest down grade towards their final destination of Irish City, still 1 hour away. From here, the train will continue further along reaching it's final destination somewhere in the East 100's of miles away.

Only one vote. Wow. For me it has to be jacksonbarno for such a life like view.

But, I just want Peterwise to know he was a strong contender.

I vote for peterwise due to his thinking outside the box. He is the only one whose screenshot fits the theme, but doesn't have a train in it.
