Matt, may I suggest using the AASHTO road system? It may just be me but they seem to look much more realistic than majority of the other road systems. I've found that combing both the AASHTO system and Ryan's Grade Crossings make a very realistic pair for a modernized scene, where needed.

Yes I know, I was just saying that you could use Ryan's at the other places (if you wanted). I like using the wig-wag crossings by BNSF_50 too and I knew that you needed to anyway.

Hey Matt, I just might be able to give you a few pointers on getting DEM data for your map. I'll give you a couple of links that I've used to help create my Chilean train route, although I'd warn you that it can be a bit long and tedious to do. I know that TransDem is payware and easier to use, but I can show you a nonpayware method that I did.

The first link is a detailed guide that I've followed and should explain every step in the process to create your map, but will require to install some other PC programs.

http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.ance...rrainGeneration/Computer-generatedTerrain.htm

The second link is where you get your DEM data and track/road data lines, but you'll need to register in order to download.

http://data.geocomm.com/

Hope this helps you out Matt, otherwise, I'll on my spare time I can compile one for you, but you'll have to message me on Skype on the specifications you want and extra help with creating the DEM map.

Thanks for the info but RoyTrainz is going to be doing a Google Map route of IRM for me with a few surprises coming but thanks for the tip Metro.

Done a lot of work on the display route today. Work on the proposed Main Street plan is progressing nicely. :)

Main Street is starting to grow from just a grassy field into a town (Now they only show a few 3D models and some sketches so I don't know what building and what type of building will be on which street) so I have to use what I got to do the best interoperation of IRM's Future Main Street Plan but the streets are as close to as the plan drawings are.

I finally completed the museum track work and now I just have to fine tune it (like the curves and switches) then I have the smooth out the terrain of route then I can start adding some bits of scenery and textures. Im going to discuss with TUME to see if he would like to make the buildings for me since I want this route to have Season changeable buildings since IRM operates trains in the winter months of December. But before I show you some screenshots of my DEM route, let me show of some action on my display route, which is a good example of a preview of what my Illinois Railway Museum Route will look like when its complete. So I hope these shots gives you more reason to help contribute and support my project for creating something that is truly the best railway museum in North America in my mind.

Now here are my shots of the completed track work of the IRM grounds. Thanks goes to user rr_jdm for sending me the DEM and helping me take one more step forward to completing this project. You will be included in my list of contributors to this project when its release.

Can't wait to start adding scenery soon. :D

Here is the track work without the Wire Frame option on. (The Google Map images are hidden below the baseboards so I have to use Wire Frame to lay the track work)

These shots look great. It really captures what comes to mind when I think of being little and seeing the grounds and collection at Illinois Railway Museum. question though, what house is that beautiful Italianate brown one to the right of the street?

I can't remember what the name of that house asset Saturn but I do know its on the DLS. Anyway, sorry for the delay in photos, Been busy laying the track on the UP (ex C&NW) Mainline. Plus Ive been working with some other people (In private) To arrange a few surprises for this route. I hope I will post some shots tonight of the DEM route route, If not I will make it up to you guys and do some shots on my display route. Basically today has been manly on research on Engines, Rolling Stock, Buildings, Bridges, Mainline Industries and so on...
