lego207's Work/Silver Lines

Hi folks. Some progress.
15373432078_92b9dd71fb_o.png

Like most people would I got around to adding this to one of these. It's a bit small and I'm gonna increase the size... but otherwise it works nicely. You can also see the SD60M Triclops I'm slowly working on..it's getting there. The entire side you see here is basically all done, save for a bit on the cab and spot behind it and the wheel-brake thing. Otherwise, everything else in terms of the light grey. I still need to add the black stripes and Silver Lines text BUT one thing at a time. As for the rest of the SD60M...most of the other side not visible needs to be done, the rearmost section, and the cab (+ its door). Additionally I need to get the red stripes on both sides under the walkway, AND get the top to be less dark grey and more light grey. Oh and that SD40-2 to the side, yeah, I got them working again. They now receive fuel. Hurray.

This is the next big WIP. It's not far from the yard, but the yard is a bit laggy. So this is gonna be a locomotive repair yard kind of place. Or something. Not totally sure yet. All I know is I'm finally getting mainline work done and not the little shortline kind of thing.

oh also trainz slightly deleted one of my tracks
15556884041_7213680f3d_o.png

well that happened.

That's it for now.

FINALLY I fixed all the faulty content for my route. I also worked on the SD60M for a little bit today...
Got some exterior cab done, and started one the one side I never got around to...
14947793274_a79a8d5880_o.png

I have mostly finished this side, just a bit more stuff to do. Little things. Also the logo.
14948371343_b11794c1a9_o.png

SD60M is coming along nicely and should be done in... a few weeks. Maybe. I also changed the top of the locomotive colour to be the darker grey used as a detail sperator for this.
These two are next for the reskins...
15382913970_ff0b7651b5_o.png

I think I might just do a patch-job for the SW1500 though. Maybe. I'll see about it. Caboose is #1 after the SD60M is done, maybe even before it. Seems like more fun than the locomotive.

I also have made that locomotive repair facility!
15382914180_7a1e333116_o.png

So far I've gotten this done on it:
  • Main Locomotive Shop
  • Smaller locomotive shop
  • Turntable (at last haha)
  • Wait tracks
  • Many crossovers
  • Dead RS-1 Decor
I'm happy with it so far. Still have a lot to do with this (more buildings, textures, etc) but, I'm happy.
15544842916_736184bc8c_o.png

The GS-4 in these last few pics; I think I'm going to duplicate it and change their lettering and numbering to be SLRR-style. Since I really like dark colours, this locomotive right here works perfectly. I could even make some SLRR style passenger cars for it as well; so maybe we can have a full steam-excursion train. That sounds fun. Maybe I'll use the UP coaches... anyways, update-wise for the route, that's it.

Oh, I have this error whenever I place down the SLRR SD60M - anyone know what this is and how to fix it?
I don't get what's wrong - the UP/BN(BNSF) SD60M's work fine with no errors, but this one has this error. If I can decipher this.. looks like ARN is busted. It doesn't spawn with numbers anyways. Any help appreciated!

I think that's it for about everything.

SM

Oh, god this was a disaster. Maybe when I figure out how to reskin the SW1500 will I try to reletter the tender.
7627336d2a134b82b39769aabede9f20.png

I mean I spaced it out to how I wanted it, but I mean, this is awful.
I started the caboose also.
15546513646_b6852499a6_o.png

Good start on this, just a matter of getting things coloured. The SLRR scheme calls for this light grey, the dark grey used as the detail parts (and on the coach the whole dark grey stuff) and black. Need to add more black to these.

And a passenger car. All of these are early WIP.
15384207757_63e9827dc4_o.png

I need to remove the UP lettering and numbers and fix a bit on the top. and do the entire other side. But it looks good right now. I like it.

Hi all. I've done a bit of work and I'm building a new area on the route. It's a coal mine with the loader from Diamond River route from JR. (Quick FYI: due to the items like the DRMX items used in this route, unless I change out items from payware sources this route will not be public unless payware things became free... which really these things won't. most likely). Anyways that's about all I've done so far. A few screens.

Thank you! It's my pleasure to share them..

While browsing my email on my phone during a study-hall time in school today, I saw something that caught my eye..

Thanks 2Wayne for these amazing signs!

(shhh dont look at that newly painted SLRR SD40-2 with some orange on it)
(its not really there stop imagining it)

SM

Thanks! I'm really enjoying making this route and showing it.

Okay you can stop imagining you didn't see it.
That SD40 with orange is part of the SLRR Vegetation control trains! Basic idea is that 20 of the SD40-2 locomotives were pulled from service and switched to operate these Vegetation Control trains (which is what the VC is SLRRVC stands for). They are different in that on the front doors you can see "SLRR VC" in orange, and they have a few orange stripes on the black lines. (Been thinking maybe I should make the numbering orange too? maybe)

Remember the overgrown tracks? Well, it's gotten to a point where they need to be fixed and dealt with.

The first SLRRVCT meets up with the second one dispatched to this section (nevermind their loco numbers are the exact same). The area here is bad enough where these two may still need help. The second SLRRVCT is stuck because of a large amount of shrubbery that has collapsed onto the tracks from one of the more recent storms. The first will need to clear it.

About it for now. Back to mainline work!

SM

Woo that baby sticks out! Email me if you want me to dirty that thing up for free! That may need to be an option if you want the item weathered or not on my site! I will try and make you a couple that are weathered and send you those!

Ah ha! You thought this thread had died, didn't you? No? Well, okay. I have been doing a bunch of schoolwork as of late and other stuff and also got into the model trainz stuff again. It was good to get away from the SLM route for a while, but I'm back to working on it.
If you want to see the model trainz work I did, head on over to the model trainz thread. It's got my latest attempts at a model. I don't think its half bad, to be honest. Needs work though. Lots.
Sooo, I just wanted to give the thread some life. I don't have any new pictures of the SLM route yet... but I have a surprise for probably the next post!
hint: its not a screenshot

Here's a picture of the model trainz thing. I've named it 'Northborough Model RR'
15521395017_259a2cafca_o.png

Oh I also felt this necessary. I was in my advisory-math class (its basically a 20 minute waste of time; we dont do any work in here or have grades. weird right?) and I saw... this
http://imgur.com/gallery/jznLING
(link because picture is really big. everywhere. really friggin big. im talking twice the size in width of the screenie above)

SM

I wasn't lying when I said I had a non-screenie surprise. hehe.
I like the ending on this one.
So there you go! I might do more stuff like this more, so look out for those.

SM

How do you get the JR high detail track to work, I downloaded it, installed it, but I couldn't find it.

The track is called ST #100 Jointed Rail Track

Hey all, I changed up some grass in the route and I like it. Whaddya think?

(dont mind the brush on the tracks i just noticed it for some reason a bunch of those things have appeared ontop of the tracks when I've never put them there not sure why but they are there)

Lastly, I tried out the banking consist rule on a curve.

15574709818_bce7a849fc_o.png

I like it.

Also, I was wondering. That Northborugh Model Trainz route I made - would anyone be interested in me at some point setting up a download for it? The assets from it come from JR and the DLS and there's no payware in it. Would anyone be interested in it? I only have some details to finish up and then its pretty much done. Tell me if its enticing at all.

That's it for now,

SM

hehehehehhehehehhehehehehhehehehehehhehe
I released that route I was talking about. I spent a few hours last night designing a website for it. Go check that stuff out if you want to - check the freeware release sections of website link in my sig.

Anyways, pictures from the route!

Let me tell you, I really like the banking rule. It makes things look very fancy. I wish JR locos could bank, maybe in the future. Maybe.

I still need to dress up this area. Soon™.

It turns out the entire UP 844 Consist can bank... except 844's tenders. imsorrywhat
15589461270_4a281658e3_o.png

This thing can bank like a champ though.

Right... so in the last two days I've done a lot of stuff. How much on the SLM? I added a track from the coal mine to connect it to the mainline (pictured above, rightmost track). That's all I did there. I did however release Northborough Model Railroad and Silver Lines [Unedited Original] on my website. Take note the route above is Silver Lines Midwest [SLM]. The original Silver Lines has a single picture on page 1 of this topic. I went ahead and threw Silver Lines on the website for download for no real reason other than so when the new version is done and I add it to the site a real comparison can be done by the user. Speaking of Silver Lines versions, that's right I'm revamping Silver Lines. Mainly changing tracks, fixing textures, replacing grass/trees/shrubbery, and making the route just better. I'll do some before/after shots here sometime soon.

Would also like to say that as far as I'm concerned, anything on my site will be freeware. My stuff isn't worthy of spending money on. Maybe in a few years :p

Anyways just wanted to post some pictures here. I think once I've dressed up the SLM to be at where the baseboards currently end I'll put it on hold until the old SL route is revamped and is worthy of a true release.

Cheers,
SM

Back to the SLM to finish that area...

Good stuff! You're getting better! (This is the best way to learn, just do it~!). Though I did notice an awful lot of Ballast in one area still, lol.

What grass did you use? I'm gonna hazard a guess at JR's Grazzy? (That stuff is so easy to use!). If its not that, I'd like to know!

After that, I've spoken with 2wayne about his signs... Those are absolutely amazing things aren't they?

Oh, and if SLM (Or SLR?) is a short line, even with re-used SD-40s, you need a caboose my friend!

Falcus

Yeah..still haven't gone back and done a lot of the ballast stuff... plus a lot of times now I can't put ballast where I want it and can't remove it else it removes all of it. Oh, textures.
Yep, that is Grazzy grass in those shots, specificall Grazzy Spline-B. It looks really amazing, I think. I only wish there was a thin version of it!
2Wayne's signs are amazing, indeed!
I do need a caboose, it's gotta be said. I've been meaning to continue that skin I started a little while back but I haven't gotten around to it. Maybe now is the time.

That's about as far as I got... maybe it's time to continue that.
Hm, speaking of textures and stuff - is it just me or am I no longer able to hold down [ or ] while placing textures and have them rotated around at the same time? That made texturing in the first Mac version really nice and easy..
Oh, well.

Cheers,
SM
