lego207's Work/Silver Lines

kick snare kick snare
Hi folks, I just thought "why not go ahead and make a thread for my own stuffs". So that's what this is. Pretty much all my stuff is my two routes; Silver Lines and Silver Lines Midwest (aka: Silver Lines 2). Not begging for comments or compliments or anything... just want a good place for all my stuff. I'm open for constructive criticism or ideas, of course. With that all out of the way...

Both screenies from Silver Lines Midwest
(Fair warning a lot of pics here are probably going to be from other threads.. but most strictly here)

Pretty sure I like these kinds of 'Bright Lights' shots I have.

Also, was not aware there was a working light on the UP caboose. Fantastic!

Thanks! Experimenting with random assets gives great results..

Two WIP things here..
First got an overpass. Would use the JR Overpass with the abutments on it already but it and this terrain don't like each other. Still more to do in this area..

Been experimenting with this one here. I need a way to turn locomotives around, and all the turntables I have are much to big. So, a Wye track. First attempt, but, it works so far.

ヽ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ノ Thanks for the feedback (and the dongers). I'll probably work on those SD40s in a bit, but for now...

Hello again! I did some work on the Silver Lines Midwest route (can I just say that from now on: Silver Lines Midwest = SLM. makes my life easier) up to the Diamond. Still got to fix a few things (mainly ballast texture, some of the plant scenery) but otherwise it's looking nice far. I ran a train over some parts of the route...

I must say, I really like how the Diamond looks. Additionally, the SD40-2 has quickly become a favourite locomotive to run (I wonder why :hehe:). Expect heavy use of the SD40-2 in pictures. Eventually I'll end up with another locomotive skinned into that 'SLRR' scheme, but whatever it is, it will not be something like a Dash 9. I'm thinking the SD60M... maybe... hmm... Before that I want to make a weathered version of the SD40-2. I've experimented with it but nothing I've been able to do gives the desired effect. If anyone knows a good way to make locos look weathered using gimp, I'm all ears!

I have just purchased the K&L Trainz Berkshire. I would say its the best steam locomotive I have. It is amazing! I did a few shots on SLM, so here they are...

Not much today. Schools cuts out my route building time. I took a large railyard from JR's midwest grain 3.1 map and merged it into the main route. Still WIP, got some stuff to fix - mainly fixing some scenery, replacing textures that arent there, etc. Couple shots

Already started a bit on the fixing, but still lots more to go. Replace assets tool is amazing... anyways, will update again soon with progress

You can't just question the most pro trainzer of 2014

In all honesty I don't quite get the whole concept here with the turntable

Well, the area where that small yard with the wye isn't big enough for any of the turntables I'm aware of, or have. I've tested all the ones I have and they are just too big. Only reasonable thing to do was try out a wye track :p Even that is hard to fit in that small area...
However, with the addition of the new, large yard... turntables are possible again

Still very WIP but, we're getting there. Big thing now is scenery and textures. I believe most of the trackwork at this point has been fixed, and most of the ballast texture placed. Now, about that turntable...

I finished the area connecting the yard to the rest of the route, finally. I've got a few things to work out, but, it's basically done.

You know, for a game that needs a fair amount of creativity (surveyor), I am lacking in creativity. I have been trying to come up with some kind of symbol for the SLRR for the last few days but with no luck. By symbol I mean like, UP has the shield, NS with the horsehead, BNSF's 'swish' thing, CSX's boxcar thingy, y'know, that kind of stuff. Maybe one day... Nonetheless I've got more plans for this route. I want to make a city somewhere here, more roads following the track, a more mountainous area to work with, maybe some rivers. Needs some thinking. Next on the list for the trains is getting another locomotive in the black-grey scheme like the SD40s. Narrowed down the options to be SD60M or SW1500. Thing with the SW1500 though is that I can't actually see the textures... this is what I mean

(excuse my other computery things and picture size)This is the JR UP SW1500 texture file (I've tried the SP one as well, same thing). I can't actually see, like, anything. It's weird. I mean, like, you can kinda see it, but not the details. It's weird. I don't get it. If anyone knows gimp... any help is appreciated. Anyways, that's it.
