Content Issue

Hi,
I'm having a bit of a problem with Trainz 2010 accepting content that once worked in 2009. I've downloaded the K steam engine units from San Juan Trainz and theres a major problem with it. All of the dependencies and everything I need I've downloaded, but the engines do not appear in the game. There's a couple faulty things with the engines in the DLS but it's only faulty shadow graphics or a couple of incorrect container tags (not really important ones though), but I find this shouldn't be the problem. All-in-all, everything has uploaded properly and all dependencies are downloaded, but nothing appears when I go to view the engine in railyard. Is there any fix to this? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Sometimes I'm a little slow so I want to make sure I understand the problem correctly. Are you saying that when you right click on the asset and choose "View Errors & Warnings" there are no errors, just warnings? And, when you right click on it and choose "View Dependencies" all five of the items at the bottom (broken, etc.) are zeroes? If the answer to both those questions is yes, then the only thing I can suggest is to take a look at the config file and see if there is an alias entry and a mesh table. I've had a few assets that are "invisible" because they have both. If that's the case just delete the one that isn't needed (if there is a mesh, delete the alias entry - if there isn't delete the mesh table from the config).

correct all dependencies and everything needed is downloaded. The only error message i'm receiving is that it will come up saying that some shadow decal, mesh, or whatever is missing or is just unable to be used. Another error i'll get is that some container is mislabeled such as, "Error: The Tag 'maxspeedmph' is not permitted within a container of type 'smoke0'." Now as far as I know, is these will come up as error messages, but its nothing harmful to the content, especially the shadow errors, although correct me if I'm wrong on that. As for looking through the config files, I may need a bit of guideance on that seeing I've never done that. Thanks for the help.

Turning into an FAQ here, so to clear this up -
WARNING with a yellow exclamation point, usually means something it don't like, but will probably run okay in TS12 or TS2010 native mode. Sometimes it's bad enough to need compatibility mode in TS2010, which means it won't run at all in TS12 since that don't have compatibility mode.
FAULTY with a red exclamation mark - bad asset, go stand in the corner. Something so wrong that it needs to be fixed before it will even show up in the game.
MISSING DEPENDENCY with a yellow puzzle piece and question mark - something it needs to work ain't installed, click "view dependencies" to see what you need to install.
FAULTY DEPENDENCY with a red puzzle piece, that means one of the assets it uses for a dependency is faulty, or the dependency itself has another dependency which is faulty.

Of those four, the yellow exclamation mark usually don't cause problems and can be ignored, missing dependency is easy to fix by downloading whatever is missing, the other two take some computer skills and learning to fix.

When you view the errors or warnings, any line that starts with warning you can ignore. Any line that starts with error must be fixed. The maxspeed tag must read maxspeedkph. For older assets, use the TRS2006CCG as a guide for allowable tags and values. If you don't have the CCG you can download it from http://www.auran.com/TRS2006/global/files/CCG2006.zip.

Ok thanks everyone. Understood what all the keys ment i was just using wrong terms. I'll try to fix up the faulty items if I can, otherwise I'll just avoid using the content. It's quite a bit that needs to be fixed.
