i tried to simulate a 76 mph with a 40mph train crash in a city envionment... you wanna know what i got? 2 things 1 a glitch and 2 this:

its because trainz does not hold head on head crashis. the best you can do is put invisible track to mak an unseen swich

i have the retarded 06 and it works fine

why doesnt it support the crashes

The point is that you aren't supposed to crash the trains. So it doesn't waste CPU time and resources making the crashes realistic.
