Well, here we go again....
It all started w/ Trainz version 1.1.1
http://www.geocities.com/bigwoulfe/Screen001.jpghttp://www.Furnation.com/Woulfe/Trainz/Screen001.jpghttp://thewoulfepack.t35.com/Trainz/Screen001.jpg (http://http//thewoulfepack.t35.com/Trainz/Screen001.jpg)
Then came Trainz Ultimate Collection
http://www.geocities.com/bigwoulfe/Screen066.jpghttp://www.Furnation.com/Woulfe/Trainz/Screen066.jpghttp://thewoulfepack.t35.com/Trainz/Screen007.jpg (http://http//thewoulfepack.t35.com/Trainz/Screen066.jpg)
Then came Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004
http://www.geocities.com/bigwoulfe/Screen119.jpghttp://www.Furnation.com/Woulfe/Trainz/Screen118.jpghttp://thewoulfepack.t35.com/Trainz/Screen066.jpg
Then came Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006
http://www.geocities.com/bigwoulfe/SupertrainRoute.jpghttp://www.Furnation.com/Woulfe/Trainz/Supertrainz.jpghttp://thewoulfepack.t35.com/Trainz/SupertrainRoute.jpg
There, we're up to date on my project, again.
Will I be remakeing this yet again for Trainz Classic ?
You bet your boots I will, hopefully I can just update the files yet again, if not I can allways start from scratch and call it Version 5.0.0 or something.
- FAQ -
1. Is this on the DLS ?
Nope, i've tryed to put it there but it just won't go there, not sure why.
2. Where can I get this ?
Try the official site for it >> http://thewoulfepack.t35.com/Trainz/ (http://www.Furnation.com/Woulfe/Trainz/) <<
or you can search for it on TrainzLuvr as it's there as well.
3. Have you made anything else for Trainz ?
I did make an Amtrak caboose / MHC / Autotrain car set, but others can make these better then I ever could, so i'll let them do it instead.
4. Why make Supertrain ?
Mostly because no one else was doing it, others were doing Superliners, my superliners, to put it mildly sucked eggs, so i'd thought i'd try something no one else could do, or wanted to do, or even remember seeing on TV.
5. Any videos of it ?
I'll post them later in this thread.

Don't worry about Trainz Classics.
You work will work just the same.
IIRC, for those with TRS06 Trainz classic will bring new beautiful content (fully build routes and rolling stock) to TRS, to those without TRS06 it will allow them to run that route and its content only, no surveyor module for them. Just the basic to allow them to run that.

I made that, I didn't bother with saveing it anywhere as I wasn't sure if anyone wanted it.
It's the bus from the movie 'The Big Bus' a parody of airport films long before 'Airplane' was made.
I could remake it, it wasn't too hard to make anyway, if folks are interested in it that is.

what software are you using to make the textures? id suggest photoshop to give it a more realistic/weathered appearence, maybe some transparent windows with a simple interior would make the model more fun at night as well.

Corey
I don't have photoshop unforunatly.
I just used paint as that came with windows for free ;)
The train allways looked brand new on the show, so I saw no reason to age it any really.
I never made an int for any of the cars, just for the cab of the loco itself, I forgot what it looked liked inside, the shows been off the air for like 20 years or more, it was last seen on TV early 1980 / late 1979 after all.
Problem with doing a 'futuristic' train is how do you make it look aged if it's in the future where everything is all bright and shiny like ;)
I do have GIMP tho' but not a clue how to do stuff w/ it, I need a manual or something to show me what I can do w/ that and all the steps involved.

Well, all but the WideGauge Crossings so don't try getting the route yet.
For some weird reason the tumbnails didn't upload w/ the content, joy =P
Possibly my fault, i'll fix it this weekend.

Sent new versions of the files to the DLS, this time with the thumbnails packed with the files so they'll show up this time around, all we have to do is wait for them to be reviewed and stuff like dat dere.
Still can't believe I made a mistake that simple as not packing the thumbnails with the actual files, they were on my computer and the configs pointed to them, just forgot to put them with the actual files 'cause I could still see 'em on my comp so I thought they'd be packaged w/ the files, oops.

It looks large, so running the train on a standard guage layout would be out of the question?

"Wide-gauge" track.
I'm guessing it would work on the normal track, it just wouldn't look right.
I'm sure that the half pint Supertrain would work on standard/narrow gauge track.

I'd just like to know, how fast can it actually go as I've got it up to 397mph (629kph) but I'm sure it can go faster.
Woulfe
November 26th, 2006, 09:26 AM
Tracking....
Yup, the Wide Gauge Track that I uploaded along with the traincars is used with the full scaled version of Supertrain.
The 'halfpint' version uses standard rails, I need to fix the 'halfpint' version before I upload it to the DLS, as it has no thumbnails for it, yet.
As for narrow gauge, not sure if even the 'halfpint' version would look right on them, as I used default Auran bogies for it.
I feel the need for speed....
How fast can Supertrain go ? I have no idea, I was just trying to get it to go 200, so I used the F7 hotrod to get it to go really fast like.
Guess to test how fast it can go would be to make a circular track crank the DCC all the way up and see what happens, as long as Alastair isn't driveing it, we know how that guy can't drive anything, and the last thing you want him driveing is something that'd end in orbit if it crashes ;)
I can just see it now, Al is going around the track at Warp 1 * WANG ! * Next thing you know he's orbiting Pluto still in Supertrain's cab.

I've updated the official website for my Supertrain stuff ;)
Now you have a choice to download stuff as a ZIP file or a CDP file.....
If you know where to place everyting use the ZIP file.
If you don't know where everything goes use the CDP file.
Planning on doing some videos of 'HalfPint' in action for folks to view.
Meanwhile, enjoy what's at the site currently.

Keep what up ? I haven't really updated this when I finished it last ;)
It's still version 4.0.9 that I was working on before the board went poof, so I started a new post that'd put it all in one place, it was all spread out before all over the board in diffrent locations no less.
I figure if I just update with new pics of the train itself. I might as well put it in the 'sceenshots' section of the board as i'm not doing anymore work on the train itself, however I could make a 2nd Route for it. Something not as massive as the NY to LA route, possibly. The NY to LA route is getting tweeked a bit to take care of seeing the baseboard edge when viewing from cams or in the cab, and so forth.

The Supertrain Layout
This has been uploaded to Trainz Luvr today, it'll show up sometime in the next 24 hrs there, it took awhile to get it to upload as it's a BIG file due to all the baseboards and content on them.
Other Supertrain News
I'm still debating to do yet another version w/ insides to everything, working doors, ect, ect, ect.... However due to me not recalling what the rest of the insides looked liked in the first place, I think I'll just leave it as is.
Anther reason to do another version would be to see if I could get it even closer to what it looked liked (exterior only that is) on the show, however because I'm worried over copyright issues, I feel I just will leave it as is.
I'm still tweaking the layout itself, I'm thinking of replacing a lot of the buildings in it w/ ones from the Cityscape series to get rid of lag for folks who run Trainz on lower end systems, for folks that don't know, the Cityscape series is basically high end textures on boxes, that's it, they look nice without having all these doodads on them made in Gmax. That saves FPS rates I'm sure.
That's All For Now Folks !

What version of Trainz you running it in ?
As of late it's TRS2006 only that it'll work on as far as I can tell.
You'll need to get the TRS2004 version from my website if that's the case.
If it's TUC then I don't think it'll work at all or Trainz 1.1.1 for that matter.

I found that it runs pretty good in TRS2004 if you have that version of Supertrain that is, as the TRS2006 version has too many changes to it to run in TRS2004.

I could of sworn I put the right links to the files on my site....
Unless you mean on the DLS.....
I've tried to upload Supertrain to the DLS several times before....
Never worked 100%, so I gave up on trying to put it on the DLS, sorry....
Usually only ended up w/ 50% of it on the DLS and the rest not showing up, it's why folks were having problems with missing content on the layout / route, or the route not being on the DLS or the layout not being on the DLS,
it got to be too much of a headache dealing w/ TRS2006's issues with not uploading everything last thing 100% to the DLS....

AHHA !
Was wondering what you were talking about, thought the whole site was down for a second there =P
The problem is that Furnation's server doesn't know what to do with CDP files, it doesn't reconize them as compressed or whtever have you files.
You have to do "save link as" I tested this many times and this was the only solution to the problem, unfortunatly.

That's 'cause I haven't made 'em into TRS 2006 yet to save 'em as CDP files to my site, still getting around to doing that, had a mini-crash recently and all my drive letters got re-arranged by XP, joyness =P
Had to fix all my shortcuts to my drives, blah =P
It's working now, I also got me a burner recently to backup all my gmax, trainz, CDP's, and so on to save the stuff from future crashes.....

doesn't matter with FF, you can use it on win, mac, (supposibly) linux/unix/whatever. probably more likely is either connection settings (lock down to 1 browser, like AOL) or user acc't settings.

I know FF is cross-platform, maybe he didn't know that, which is why I said that silly ;)
Netscape 9 displays the forums correctly, well at least I think it does ;)
Yea, I just had to test that as I also have Netscape as well as FF and Opera and a few others as well, I hardly ever use IE even tho' it's set as 'Default' just so XP won't go all wonko on me, joyness....

Due to how the server is for my site you have to right click to download, this is 'cause the server doesn't reconize CMP files as anything at all, not a zip, not an' exe, not as anything.

Merry Christmas from the Supertrain Chief.
Hard to believe i've been doing this project on and off for so many YEARS.
Just this past 2 years i've updated the train several times allready.
Each update with it's own set of headaches to overcome.
However looking forward to the future I see a few more minor tweeks to do and then, well, finish it once and for all, should be version 6.0 by then, eh ? ;)
Meanwhile enjoy this recent pic.....

Well theres a reason I haven't done any updates to my site.
The server my site is on is down.
For how long ?
I have no idea.
TrainzLuvr has the files on it if folks need them.
The files won't be changed or added onto 'till the main site is working again, I have an idea or two for new consits.
Not telling what those ideas are, but it's safe to say one can mix and match the consists so it's not always the same train every time.

[link removed due to geocities going away soon]
You might need to type the URL in by hand as the link doesn't seem to work. ( copy & paste also works )
This is a temp solution 'till someone gets the server back running for the main site back up again.
Not everything is there due to Geocities only allowing 15mb for a free site.
I had to cut the MSTS area, the Locomotion area, the Amtrak area, several hundred screen shots, the route itself wouldn't fit as it's 16mb by itself, so it couldn't go up, erf.
You'll have to make your own route namely, oh well, that's life.
So basically it's a watered down version of the old site, most of the bells and whistles are gone so you're left with the basic stuff available to you there.
As it is I ended up with like 2mb left over, not nearly enough to put updates and add ons, however I can add more You Tube links to the video page, seeing as they're not stored on Geocities itself, eh ?
Like I said this is only a temp solution.

Due to the fact I'm not sure what to do next with this project.
It's done, finished, no more updates, no more changes, that's all folks.
No, I'm not removing it from the Internet, sillies.
You can still download it from the link below.
It'll still be there as long as the site it's on is working.
That said I might do an amusement park layout for it, but that's about it.
I might also redo the half pint version as that hasn't been touched in ages.

Sorry to bump this, but is it possible to have a single ZIP for all the packages? There's about 30 odd ZIPs to download and I don't feel like downloading, extracting, and committing them ALL. Thanks!
Woulfe
November 5th, 2008, 06:17 AM
So the idea of a mega mc huge large mono zip file dosen't scare you ?
Main reason I put it into several diffrent files is for folks on dial-up.
The route alone is 16MB (not KB, MB)
Seeing as I lost my FTP password due to an XP crash.
I'd have to put it on Rabidshare or whatever.
Let's put this to a vote.
How many would like all this to be one large file ?
LGBMATT
November 6th, 2008, 08:09 PM
Well i can't install the ZIPs after I download them. How do I do that? And instead of replacing all of your ZIPs, just create 1 large ZIP and just put it on the bottom of your download page.
Thanks,
Matt

Like I said above, I can't upload to my site via FTP 'cause I don't have the password I used to have for my FTP program.
FurNation might be closing down soon anyway, so I need a new site.
So the alternative is to put the Mondo McHuge Large Mega Zip file up on RapidShare or some other file sharing site that takes large files.
The problem with most free web sites is they don't allow very huge files on them so even if I did find a new site to put my web page on the file (or files) could not be hosted there as well.
Understand now ?
P.S. Never mind, I found my FTP password for my FurNation site, however I still point out that FurNation might soon go bye-bye and will need a new place to host all this stuff anyway.
Woulfe
May 26th, 2009, 09:00 AM
I got an E-Mail recently that said that Furnation might go away.
So I moved everything I could to a new location.
However the larger zip files did not want to move to the new location.
This means I may have to place them someplace like Rapidshare.
This might take awhile.
