I"ve drawn a blank in my enquiries regarding TransDEM and MicroDEM and it appears that my PC crashing has erased MicroDEM from it and left only a shortcut! So, I guess I"ll have to bite the bullet and use TransDEM.With that in mind does any UK Trainzer know of a good source of 1" OS maps hopefully from about 1960-64 hopefully in near mint condition suitable for scanning? I"ve looked on the Net and the two biggest sites only seem to do really old maps and new ones.Any suggestions warmly welcomed.;)

Ordnance survey offer a service from their website, I think the 1" maps were the cheapest. If you don't know the map ref, they will find it from the year and detail you request.

Hmm..I thought they only did new ones?It has to be 1960s because the majority of the line was closed in 1967 and (especially with trees and houses) alot of stuff exists now which didn"t then.I"ll have another look at the OS site and send them an e-mail.Cheers.:)

I have literally hundreds of O.S. maps going back to the 1940's if you can tell me the area i might be able to help you,
also i have a book with every bit of railway on it at 1 inch to the mile from the 1830's to 1994 some of which is scannable, owing to the limitations of my scanner which has a flap at the back it ca be awkward to do some pages owing to the size of the book.

give me a shout if i can help as several people on here have already used what i have

The British Library will have all of them and they may be available on line on its website. I've got some 1" OS maps from the 60s and a scanner. If you can't get what you want from one of those comprehensive sources email me with the locations you need and, if I have the relevant maps, I'd be happy to scan and send.

Try here (http://www.npemap.org.uk/). They are scanned in and a bit fuzzy in places but might be what you want.

These maps (http://www.npemap.org.uk/) can be georeferenced in TransDEM with the the simplified 2-corner-point procedure because the scans are aligned with the O/S grid principal axes.
