Hi all I am looking for some help and inspiration, I have created a huge terminous of 8 platforms but I have made one of the platforms extend further into the station than the other 7. below you can see a screenshot of what I mean.

It is a UK layout going to be based somewhere around the north of england from anywhere between the lat 80's to early to mid 90's. I am using plat0f 4wxx by stongate but they are not really very wide as you can see and I need something I can put down to fill in the square. Any help with this would be most appreciated :D

Search the DLS for 'concrete' (or 'conc') and you will find some nice and quite large square and rectangular concrete blocks (for want of a better word) with a surface very similar to the platforms you are using.

hi louise
any chance of you releasing one with 2 long platforms?
it would fit in well as a city station in my australian layouts
maybe even some as 4 + 6 platforms
but i would always be looking for 2 long distance train platform. it is too hard to put the lond distance trains only into 1 platform as they meet head on eventually

Hi Louise,
That extra long platform could double as an excursion platform for trains for example (football specials) & a loading/unloading bay for goods or Royal Mail Trains, plus there's ample room for a huge concourse for shops cafe's and parking for taxis, similar to Darlington station in the Northeast.

Is there anything on the DLS as I not sure if there is or not :$ Also most of the platforms can fit a 8 car HST like the XPT in Aus, HTH

Hi Louise, What a gr8 website by the way :-), i had a look on the Download station earlier, there's 18 platforms some with track on there, one of the platform packs fits a 10 car train KUID2: 60850:22006:1, by bloodnok, have you not tried the platforms in TRS2006? they're called MS_Platform etc under the buidings tab.
I've used the TRS2006 ones in my Cleve Rail Route, for Middlesbrough Station.

I did some platform spacers 12 metres wide with different end - ramps, cut etc ... on the DLS

Thanks for the praise on my website :) I have used Bloodnoks platforms and find them to be wonderful but I am making this route non passenger active due to the constraints on the size of platforms. I am not that well up on Andi06's platforms so just going to put bog standard platforms down, I will be putting industries down like Coal power stations etc........

Hi,
Just my opinion, but would it not be better to move the seven shorter platforms nearer the end of the terminus and have the longer one sticking out into the station throat? This way, you can fit in some carriage holding sidings or a small yard (perhaps not in the '80s though) instead. I would imagine that back in the 1880s when many Northern stations were originally built they carefully balenced up costs and aesthetics, and dead space was a no-no.
There is often a lot of space at the back though, so don't move the platforms all the way. Good luck with the interesting project. http://forums.auran.com/trainz/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif

I appreciate your imput :) although there is a presidence for this granted it's in the south Kings Cross for example the 8 intercity platfoms come alot further back than the 3 surburban platforms. I just altered it a wee bit with my own twist ;) Also I had already put in the point work and didn't want to change them as I have used Andi06's animated points ;)

If you look at "Asphalt Parking Lot"(spline) its a plain black Tarmac surface. The easiest way to do it is to raise the ground to the same height as the Platforms and use a similar Texture to the platforms on the ground.
