View Full Version : TRS-2006 Surveyor too slow

I am new to Trainz and I have only played so far, with the local content.
So I have started to install new rolling material and locos, mostly coming from independent web sites (as CDP). I have problems with surveyors and maybe with installation of new material.

I double click on the CDPs, the Content Manager goes up and then I start Trainz from inside, and say yes when asked if I want to commit the new files I just installed.

Form inside the Yard I can see the new locos or cars.

After that, I try to enter Surveyor to compose some trains in existing routes (like Iberia Main Line).

The problem is that when I try to load a route in the Surveyor it behaves sluggish and loads very slowly without and the clock cursor never ends activity. I also hear a lot of hard disk activity (noise).

See that I don't have problems with Trainz sessions with local content (fps look good) and have a pretty fast computer and graphics card with plenty of memory.

I have tried to uninstall and install again TRS-2006. I tried to change DirectX by OpenGL. I have tried it by stopping the Norton antivirus auto-protect.

Any idea of what can be wrong in my system or TRS-2006?

Hi Jalsina,

The only thing I can suggest is to check the surveyor auto save option.

On the start up screen select;

'Options'

'Advanced Options'

Now down the bottom there is an option to set Auto Save in Surveyor,
make sure the Save delay is NOT set to 0 minutes!

Because if it is your computer will be continuesly saving your layout!

Hi Jorge, welcome to Trainz!

The problem could be a piece of the custom content you have downloaded. It may be more hi-poly than what your computer can handle, or it could be a corrupt file somewhere.

Post your system stats so we can have a base of where to go. Also maybe post a Dxdiag, Jetlog, or Trainzdiag(?) I believe it's called. Been a long night at work and I just got home so I'm a little fuzzy.

Good luck and happy trainzing!

Go to Start> Run> type DXDIAG and save all information. Copy it from the notepad to the forum.

A big thank you Lindsay!
Yes, that did it! I set the auto-save time to 10 min and it's loading fine.

Thanks also to Salesman for trying to help.

Still have other usage problems and I will probably be posting other messages.
