Questions about terrain mapping?

I have been reading all the posts about generating terrain maps for TRS and I have a couple of questions.

Can someone direct me to a good tutorial?

What is HOG and where can I get it? You can't imagine where Google directs me to go!!!!!!

Try a search for TransDem by Geophil. It is payware but worth every penny, and the tutorials are superb. The latest version doesn't need HOG to generate the terrain. It is probably the best money I have spent on Trainz items.
