and lightning hit my house, I've fear that I have lost my TRAINZ, but yet I still have my mouse, yes I still have my mouse.

Here's the rub:

Just seconds after I hit my TRAINZ launcher icon, lightning hit real close, accompanied by a brief (1/2 second) power outage. UH OH.

I waited for the storm to pass, fired up the box and all works ok, except for TRAINZ.

Now when I hit the launcher icon, I get the following:
http://www.alliancevisionsystems.com/TRAINZ/EXCEPTION_ONLOAD.jpg

Everything else on the box works, my programs, games, etc.

I figure that the launch and subsequent lightning strike did TRAINZ in and will accept the fate: DELETE/REINSTALL, which I'm OK with. Even though the message says the exception is recoverable, it isn't. No load.

I really want to save my routes so far...not all of them, just a few ones that I've spent countless hours perfecting.

What is required to save my routes and any other ancilliary programs required to insure the reinstall will load my old routes ?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If you go into the Trainz folder and save the file "Local" you might be able to save all your content. It's going to be a big file, several Gigs I would guess. If you have an external hard drive, I would save it to that.

Good Luck

You can have a brew while its transfering, maybe several

Is that your FINAL answer?

LOL, just want to get it right ! My LOCAL has 640 mb in it, total of 340 files.

I have 4 add'l internal HDDS, we're talking oodles of terabytes.

I save my LOCAL folder only to X-drive, then del/reinstall TRAINZ ?

Thanks bro - just confirm and I'll get 'er started.

should have more files than that, I think.

Hi,
Yes all you need to do is save the local file, but just in case look in the edit file and make sure you don't have any in there, if you do copy that also,

Give him time, he's only just started.

Well, my TRAINZ is working and I've restored my LOCAL folder in.

I have all the stock stuff, but none of mine.

No biggie - for some reason it didn't work.

This will give me a chance to re-evaluate the way I'm building TRAINZ. I'll recreate the CHATSWORTH-SIMI run again, but this time with a whole lot more savvy than when I first built it.

Thanks for all the advice ... I'm sure next time this happens I'll know what to look for.

Measure_Twice, then delete/reinstall, call Bill Gates in the morning
