Hi

I have 2 computers and have purchased 2 copies of TRS2006, I operate a Lan to a dailup modem. I want to be able to send trains via one computer to the other via iPortal.

I have set it up and tried but have no luck, for some reason the only one or the other will maintain a "online" connection. Same with iChat only one or the other will stay connected.

Is there anyone else have a similar system working???? So I know if its my system or if its not possible at all

Hi marbles,

Do you have two phonelines? I have two computers as well, connected by LAN although one is a rather old model and will not run Trainz, I use it for backups. It does have a modem and I can send and receive emails from the old one but find the same problem that you have, they cannot both be on line at the same time. That is why I think you would have to have two phone lines and connect each computer through a different line.

Cheers,

Two phone lines is the only way I can see that your setup would work. If possible, you could upgrade to a high-speed internet Service Provider and get a router to connect to the modem (usually provided by the ISP). Then, you could connect BOTH computers to the router so that they would communicate with the router AND each other with no problems.

Yes Mouse Both puters can see the Internet via the LAN

If i remember correctly, I belive that you need two user names...
one for each computer, which can be done seeing that you need two copies of the program.

Yes I have 2 log in names one for each TRS06, has someone had this working before so I know if its a config problem in my sys or if it is just not possible

Try this solution:

Connect one computer to the Internet, then set it up to be the master connection and make the second computer the slave. The second computer is set up using the "this computer connects to the internet through another computer" setting in the Create an Internet Connection wizard. It DOES NOT connect using the Modem - only through the LAN to the master computer.

The first computer connects to the modem normally.

When this is set up, both will connect to the Internet at the same time and your iPortals should work just fine.

Just a reminder that both user names need to be valid Planet Auran user names. so that the Auran servers can recognize them.

Thankx HiBaller that is exactly how the puters are set up, are are working just fone as a LAN and connecting to the net, however in TRS06 ichat and iportal will not both connect at the same time it is either one or the other.

Hi Westside yes both are activated Auran Planet profiles

Ah so. OK, now I'm tracking your problem. I have a suspicion that since both computers are coming from the "same" IP address that Auran won't connect more than one at a time in the mistaken belief that it is some sort of doubled connection. Your setup is probably just fine, but it is the other end that is messing up and dropping one connection when the other signs on. It may have something to do with having two usernames coming from the same IP address.

This is sort of like having MSN IM on two computers - just as soon as you log in from another computer, it throws you off the first one stating "terminating other connection". Only Auran doesn't notify you what it is doing.

Sounds like a very good question to put to the helpdesk.

Yeah HiBaller thats what I suspect to that the trouble is 2 logon's from the same IP causes the problem might try the helpdesk.
