hi david
the thing is that i want to set it up in surveyor in the drivers orders menu down the bottom.
when they reach the end of their run i want them to change by themselves.
sorry, i wasnt very clear about that
thanks

It should do that anyway (well mine does anyway) in TRS2006-TRS2009 , unless there is no second cab on that loco???
Which ever way the AI goes it changes cabs and uses the second cab or if a loco with 2 control towers, it changes to the other side.

Use the driver command "Run Around Ex".
If a train has an "engine" at each end this command will move the driver to the front cab.

hi andyz
when i go into driver command i can see it there,
but it will not show in driver setup.
i tried ticking runround, run around and run around ex singly and in twos or all three.
all that will show up in setup is run around
any suggestions?
thanks

Hi Ron
I run TRS2006, and the command runs fine for me. The only thing I can think of is this: The list of driver commands in Driver does not scroll. If there are to many commands installed, some may not be displayed at the bottom of the list. They are there but you can't select them.
If this is the case you may have to delete some other commands from the list to make room.
That is the only suggestion I can think of at the moment.
I don't have TC, so I dont know if the Runaround Ex command works in TC, others may be able to advise ?

Ron,
It's definitely on the DLS but for some reason CMP for TRS2006 doesn't see it.
Its username is Run Around Ex (not Runaround --one word) and its kuid is kuid2:117667:83:2 by nicroman.
I downloaded and installed it last night and it does exactly what is stated in previous posts in both TRS2006 and TS2009.
Installation is a bit fiddly. You must enable it as a driver command, then save your session and close it; then open again to add it to your driver's command icon list in edit drivers setup.
Thanks for starting this thread, you have solved a problem for me with this.

You could always just give the driver the Move to train command, just pick the second motor car from the list.

hi mate
tried that and it dont work
i'll just have to put up with the way it is now
unless you know of a separate move to train kuid that i can dl and install

Do you mean change the cab view or change the driver "figure" you can see in the cab?

hi itareus
i mean the cab view so that it points the right way with the driver in there.
i didnt know you could also change the drivers figure.

Ron,
I just wanted to be clear what the problem was, as far as I know you can't change the figure (unless the asset is built to do this?).
I was going to try to reproduce your problem on my setup but I can't find the "dreddmans 200 class railmotor" you are using. Can you let me know what the KUIDs are and I will give it a try.
Cheers

Ah!! This is why this worked so well for me.. The Trains I tried it on have a script that only shows the driver in the lead vehicle of the consist.

Hi Ron,
I have been able to get the drivers to change ends using this rule. Remember that I am using it in 04 though as I know that you don't use 04. I got it to work by issuing a "Drive to" command and then placing the "Run Around Ex" command next.
Cheers

....the 2000 class are dreddmans beta railmotors....
Ron,
If they are Beta versions then you might reasonably expect problems.
Try substituting the railmotor for this:
KUID2:122285:500:04 (Andi06 - AEC Railcar, Double cab) and see if the commands work. If they do then the problem is with the railmotor asset so report it to the author, who will I'm sure be grateful for the feedback.
If not then post again and I will try and reproduce the problem.

Hi Ron,
Did you try to drive the train from the other end and be able to see out the front window?
One thing I have found is the command doesn't like being added behind a "Wait for......" that is first in the queue of commands. I have yet to try another way but have added one of the commands that controls the lights on locomotives between the "Wait for........" and "Run Around Ex". Will post back with the result.
Cheers
Russell.

Hi Ron,
The result was that in reality I had got the direction of the train wrong in the first place and didn't need to change ends so you could ignore the previous post. Sorry for any confusion.
Cheers
Russell.

hi rusty and itareus
i dl the aec stuff and it imported with no faults showing in cmp,
but in surveyor all i get is the trailer.
neither the single nor the double railmotor will show
any idea what could be causing this?
thanks

Ron,
The AEC asset KUID I posted was for a single vehicle railcar with a cab at each end so I don't understand your comment about the trailer. Are you sure you downloaded the correct KUID (there are several AEC railmotors)?

July 4th, 2009, 04:49 PM
hi itareus
i deleted them and reinstalled them
they work now
the dual cab version the driver sits at one end only.
the single cab with the trailer in the middle had a driver figure at each end after the ex command
the cabin changes from one to the other end
thanks

I use the 'Change train direction' rule from the DLS. If the driver is allowed to move he will. works with single and muliple locos. very handy when you have reversed into an industry to load under AI control because reverse has become forwards to them.

Mike.

You could try the 'Move to Loco' command. when you enter the command, select the other loco from the list of available locos, enter it after the load at station command and it should work for you.;)
